Filming for the comedy movie “Azhagiya Laila,” starring ‘Ilaiya Thilagam’ Prabhu, has commenced.

Dr. Vikram PSJ, Managing Director of Jaya TV, inaugurated the event by sounding the clapboard.

“Azhagiya Laila” is jointly produced by A.R. Mathiyazhagan and Aarthi on behalf of A.R.M. Studios and Yoga Studios.
‘Ilaiya Thilagam’ Prabhu plays a lead role. The cast includes Apsara Rani (female lead), Yogi Babu, Thambi Ramaiah, VTV Ganesh, Kingsley, Sarath, and Poovaiyar, among others. The crew comprises C. Sathya (Music Composer), Vinoth Perumal (Cinematographer), Greesan (Editor), Mujibur Rahman (Art Director), M. Shanmugavel (Executive Producer), and Vinu (Production Manager).

The launch ceremony and the start of filming for this full-fledged comedy movie took place today at the Nachiyar House shooting location in Gerugambakkam, near Chennai.
Speaking on the occasion, ‘Ilaiya Thilagam’ Prabhu said, “The producer and director of this film hail from Kerala and have previously produced Malayalam movies. Director Rejith has already directed a film in Malayalam; this marks his directorial debut in Tamil. The producer requested that I listen to the story. The director had already narrated the script to the producer, who liked it immensely, before they approached me.

I listened to the story for an hour and a half, laughing the entire time. That is when I agreed to act in the film.

This movie is being crafted as a comedy entertainer. I have previously acted in comedy films like Chinna Mapillai and Thedinen Vanthathu. In that same vein, this film promises to be a massive comedy hit.

Just as you extended your support to my father, you have extended the same support to me.” “Just as you have extended your support to my son, Vikram Prabhu, I request you to extend the same support to this film’s team as well.

Tamil Nadu—a land that embraces and sustains those who come here—has always welcomed and celebrated talented artists. Similarly, the director, producer, and actors of this film deserve to be celebrated.

This film is being produced solely in Tamil. It will be released in the Tamil version in Kerala as well. The people of Kerala are well-versed in Tamil; my film Chinna Thambi ran there for over 100 days.

They speak Tamil fluently, and Tamil films are released there directly, receiving a warm reception from the audience. Likewise, this film will also be released in Kerala,” said actor Prabhu.

Producer A.R. Mathiyazhagan said, “This is a comedy film. It is a story I really loved. We felt it would be wonderful if Prabhu Sir starred in it. We approached him, narrated the story, and brought him on board.

He is a true legend in the film industry—a man of great culture and fine values. It is a matter of immense pride for us to have him act in a story like this; his participation is a blessing for us.”
