Film Crew Celebrates the Success of ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’… 50th-Day Thanksgiving Event!

Jointly produced by Vels Film International and Vishnu Vishal Studioz, and directed by Chella Ayyavu, the film ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’—starring Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi—has successfully crossed the 50-day mark in theaters, buoyed by the support of fans. To celebrate this milestone following the success of the first installment, the film crew organized a 50th-day success celebration and thanksgiving event.

At the event, the crew met with members of the press and media in person to express their gratitude for the support extended to the film. Shields and medals were presented as mementos to honor the actors, technicians, and crew members who contributed to the film’s success. Attendees shared their experiences and happiness regarding the journey and success of ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’. Speaking at the event, Director Chella Ayyavu said, “We performed the pooja and commenced filming for Gatta Kusthi 2 on September 2nd of last year. Today, September 3rd, it brings me immense joy to celebrate the film’s success of completing a 50-day theatrical run. In the current era, it is a significant achievement for a film to go from inception to release and run in theaters for over 50 days within a single year. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the fans who made this success possible and to the friends in the press and media who took the film to the public. In the past, it was common to see advertisements in newspapers for films that had run for 100, 175, or 200 days. Given how theatrical release patterns and the platforms where fans watch movies have changed over time, the fact that Gatta Kusthi 2 has crossed the 50-day mark brings us great happiness.”

He added, “Celebrating this success alongside the actors and technical crew, and presenting them with mementos, is a deeply moving moment for me. Back when I was an assistant director, I used to keep a memento—along with a photograph—that I had received for a film’s success at home. Now, years later, the fact that a film I created as a director has run for 50 days and earned me another success memento brings me immense personal joy. I intend to take this memento home and place it right next to that old one. That is why this moment feels so special and emotional to me.”

“Vishnu Vishal placed immense faith in this film from the very beginning. He was deeply involved at every stage—from writing the story and selecting the cast and crew to filming, production, release, and promotional activities. He worked with total dedication to ensure the film’s success, not just as an actor but also as a producer. His contribution has been pivotal to the success the film has achieved today. My special…” I express my gratitude. Likewise, Aishwarya Lekshmi’s contribution was immense; she served as a key figure in establishing ‘Gatta Kusthi’ as a brand. I thank everyone who supported this film.

Producer Ishari K. Ganesh said, “Greetings to everyone. Today, we are celebrating the successful 50-day run of the film ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’. The actors, actresses, and technicians from various departments who worked on this film are present here. It gives me great pleasure to present them with mementos in recognition of their work. I extend my thanks to my dear brother, Minister Rajmohan, for attending this event and presenting the mementos to the artists. Similarly, Padma Shri Prabhu Deva arrived in Chennai this morning after completing a series of shows in the USA and Canada; he attended this function without even taking time to rest. I am deeply happy and touched that he came here out of our friendship.”

“Vishnu Vishal, the film’s actor and producer, worked incredibly hard to ensure the movie’s success. His contribution was massive across every stage—from production to release and promotion. In today’s times, a film running in theaters for just one week is often considered a success. Yet, ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ has crossed the 50-day mark in theaters. In the past, film successes were celebrated at the 100-day, 175-day, or 200-day milestones. While such celebrations have become rare now, I offer my heartfelt thanks to Vishnu Vishal for creating the opportunity to hold this 50th-day celebration. I had hoped the sequel would turn out even better than the first part, and indeed, the film has received a wonderful reception from the audience,” he said.

“Director Chella Ayy [Ayyavu], a key reason for the film’s success…”
“My heartfelt thanks to Yavu. The promo he created right at the beginning received a tremendous response; that was when I became confident that this film would certainly succeed. We are producing several films under the Vels Film International banner, and our new projects are set for release in the coming months. I also thank Ramya Krishnan for attending this event as a special guest. It brings me joy that she—who made the film’s climax so special—is here to celebrate this 50-day milestone with us. This success would not have been possible without our friends in the press and media who took the film’s success to the world. My heartfelt thanks to everyone,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Vishnu Vishal said, “Everyone is overjoyed. It is a pleasure that our film Gatta Kusthi has received an opportunity that many other films do not get. I thank the entire film crew who worked hard for this success; I will also express my gratitude to each of them individually. As far as I am concerned, fans are the driving force that determines a film’s success. Gatta Kusthi is a prime example of the heights fans can take a film to once they love it. I also thank the media friends who supported the movie. I will always be grateful for the support you continue to extend—not just to the film, but also to my personal life and cinematic journey. My special thanks to Ramya Krishnan for attending this event. I initially told her it was just a 15-minute special appearance. Even when I sent the scenes for her to read, she agreed to play the role solely out of affection for me. I am delighted by the reception her character received from the audience,” he said.

“Fans celebrated Zara—the heart and soul of this film—with great enthusiasm in theaters. She, too, is a vital part of this success. It brings me extra joy to have everyone together to celebrate this achievement. My heartfelt thanks to Isari Ganesh sir.” “I had promised him that we would celebrate this success on the 50th day. I thank everyone for their continued support and for the effort put into organizing these events to celebrate this achievement. Success in cinema is not easily come by; it is a rarity. My belief is that when such success is achieved, it should be celebrated wholeheartedly. I thank Isari Sir once again for organizing such a grand celebration for this success. I also thank Rajmohan Sir for gracing this event. Similarly, Prabhu Deva Sir has held a special place in my heart since my childhood. I used to participate in and win various competitions dancing to the ‘Chikku Bukku’ song. At one point, my dream was to become a dancer. Although I couldn’t continue that journey due to a leg injury, Prabhu Deva Sir remained my childhood role model. I grew up emulating his songs and dance moves, so it gives me immense joy to have him attend this event today.”

“Chella has always been a very special director to me. If there is one director with whom I have shared a long journey in my film career, it is Chella. His growth has been both natural and beautiful. I wish for him to continue achieving such great success for a long time to come. In particular, I hope he continues to create films like this that draw family audiences to theaters; such directors are rare these days. Please keep making good family films. We could even make ‘Gatta Kusthi 3’ soon. I thank the Vels production house and Kushmitha for their continued support. Once again, my heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked towards this success,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, producer Kushmitha Ganesh said, “Greetings to everyone. I am delighted to meet you all today at the 50th-day celebration of the film ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’.” “We are honored to have the Honorable Minister Rajmohan with us as a special guest at this event. We are also delighted to have Padma Shri Prabhu Deva here as a special guest. While receiving a warm reception from fans during the opening week is one thing, a film running in theaters for 50 days is a truly remarkable achievement. It is an added joy that the film, which premiered on OTT platforms on July 31st following its theatrical release, continues to trend in the top 10 list across India,” he said.

“We are hosting this event to celebrate everyone behind this success. The award presented during this 50-day celebration of a hit film is not merely a memento; it is a moment that brings pride and recognition to everyone who worked on the project. My father had decided that we should gather and honor all the actors, actresses, and technicians who contributed to the film on the very day of the success celebration. That vision is now being realized through this event…”
…it is truly delightful to see this come to fruition,” he said.

“My heartfelt thanks to all the actors and technicians who worked towards the success of the film Gatta Kusthi 2. The dedication and hard work of each one of you lie behind this success. We hope that the recognition being given today marks a proud moment for you all. This should serve not only as a celebration of this success but also as a beautiful beginning for many more victories to come. Thank you all; Vanakkam,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, actress Ramya Krishnan said, “Greetings to everyone. It has been a long time since I attended a success celebration like this. My congratulations to Vishnu Vishal, Chella Ayyavu, and the entire film crew. After the success of the first part, I was eager to see how they would surpass it with the sequel. I wanted this film to turn out well and hoped to be a part of it. I am overjoyed that the film has achieved such massive success today and brought acclaim to the entire team. In this day and age, a film running for 50 days is a rarity.”

“Ishari Ganesh sir has a ‘Midas touch’; everything he touches turns into a success. I am happy that this film, too, has been blessed with that luck. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of this team. Chella Ayyavu’s writing naturally possesses a unique blend of humor. Working on this film was a truly fun experience. My heartfelt thanks to the fans and media friends who have extended such tremendous support to the film. Let us meet again soon for Gatta Kusthi 3,” she said.

Speaking on the occasion, actor Prabhu Deva said, “My greetings to everyone. Congratulations to the Honorable Minister, Ishari Ganesh sir—who is like an elder brother to me—as well as Vishnu Vishal, director Chella Ayyavu, Kushmitha, and everyone else present.” “While I was abroad, Ganesh Sir called and asked me to attend this event. I told him I would come whenever he called, as we share a bond akin to that of brothers. I am someone who genuinely cares about Vishnu Vishal’s well-being. He brings the same level of hard work and 200% dedication to every film he does, not just this one. It is my wish that he scales even greater heights. I am also a huge fan of his wife, Jwala Gutta; she is a world-class badminton player,” he said.

“In this day and age, creating a sequel and making it a success is a very difficult task. Director Chella Ayyavu has handled that challenge brilliantly. Achieving success with the sequel, following the first part, is truly praiseworthy. Ramya Krishnan has performed her role excellently, and all the other artists in the film have made significant contributions. My best wishes go to music composer Sean Roldan as well. I hope the entire ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ team continues to achieve many more successes.”

“I have known Kushmitha since she was a child. It brings me joy to see her stepping up to take on responsibilities and emerging as the next generation of leadership for the company. I wish for her to lead the organization to even greater success. It gives me great pleasure to attend a victory celebration and an event where artists are being honored with awards after such a long time. It is especially special to host such an event at a prominent venue and share the film’s success with everyone. My thanks to Isari Ganesh Sir for inviting me. My heartfelt wishes to the entire ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ team,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rajmohan said, “Good evening to everyone.” It is a pleasure to welcome Padma Shri Prabhu Deva Master—celebrated by all as the ‘Michael Jackson of India’ and an icon not just of Tamil cinema, but of Indian cinema as a whole. I had the opportunity to learn a great deal while working with him. He remains quiet on the film set, yet the moment he stands before the camera, he completely transforms into the character he is portraying. Even during breaks, he avoids using his mobile phone, choosing instead to spend his time reading books or playing chess. His professional dedication and discipline serve as a lesson for everyone. This honor bestowed upon him by the Vels Group is a reflection of the affection we hold for him.

“Our producer, Mr. Ishari Ganesh, is a true lover of cinema who retains a childlike spirit. He possesses a generous heart and an immediate desire to help anyone who asks. He continues to render significant service in both the film and education sectors. The fact that Gatta Kusthi 2 has successfully run for over 50 days is a monumental achievement in these times. In an era where merely sustaining a successful run for five days—or even five shows in a single day—is a challenge, a 50-day run is a crowning glory for the film crew.”
“Achieving such success requires a hard worker like Vishnu Vishal—an actor who possesses absolute faith in the film. I admire his attitude; he is happy to see his co-stars deliver performances that match his own. His dedication to every aspect of the film, especially the promotional activities, has been extraordinary.

“Aishwarya Lekshmi has delivered a brilliant performance in this movie. The contribution of young Zara was also a major asset to the film; her confidence and acting prowess, standing alongside such talented artists, are truly praiseworthy. Every artist involved in the film has done an excellent job. Likewise, the contributions of the technical crew—whose work happens behind the scenes—have been crucial to this success. The efforts of everyone involved—music composer Sean Roldan, the stunt team that crafted the wrestling sequences, the cinematographer who captured them realistically, and the editor who shaped the film—have all strengthened the movie. I extend my best wishes to the production company and producer Isari Ganesh for organizing this event to honor all these individuals on stage. I would also like to state that under the administration of my brother—our Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, the Honorable C. Joseph Vijay—all necessary support and requests for the film industry will be fulfilled. Thank you.” Speaking at the event, actress Aishwarya Lekshmi said, “Hello everyone. I am delighted to be part of the 50th-day celebration of the movie ‘Gatta Kusthi’. My thanks to everyone who organized this beautiful event and gave me this joyful moment. Vishnu Vishal is a wonderful co-star. After the film’s release, I had the opportunity to understand him even better as a producer. My respect for him—both as an actor and a producer—has grown immensely. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I also extend my thanks to Minister Rajmohan for attending this event, and to Prabhu Deva sir, whose songs I have admired since childhood. I have always had a desire to dance and have always marveled at the talent of dancers. It is truly special to have Prabhu Deva sir here at this celebration.”

“Chella sir, words cannot express how grateful I am that you chose me for the role of Keerthi in ‘Gatta Kusthi’. No matter how many films I act in, the reception for the character of Keerthi and the love I received from the audience through that role will always remain very special to me. You are one of the kindest directors I have ever worked with. Kushmitha, you have been a great support to me. As a woman on the production side, you have been a wonderful friend and a pillar of support. I hope you produce many more excellent films and that we get to work together on many future projects. My thanks to the entire team that worked 100 percent towards the success of this film; it is because of your excellent work that we are here today celebrating this 50-day milestone.”

“My heartfelt thanks to everyone—those who presented me beautifully on screen, those who crafted the character of Keerthi so well, and those who choreographed the amazing action sequences. Thank you to everyone, including Ruchi, Sravanthi, Bharath, Bhaskar sir, and my dear Zara and Meenu Miss.” Speaking at the event, actress Mokksha said, “Greetings to everyone. My heartfelt thanks to the Tamil people for their love and continued support. It is your love and support that have made the film ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ such a massive success. I hope for this same support in the future as well. To be honest, I never even imagined I would act in a film produced by such a major production house. I started with modest expectations, and today, being part of a film produced by Vels Film International and Vishnu Vishal Studios still feels like a dream. I thank Isari Ganesh Sir, Vishnu Vishal Sir, and the entire film crew for giving me this opportunity.”

“I am deeply indebted to Director Chella Sir for choosing me for the role of ‘Meenakshi’. I still find it hard to believe how deeply this character has connected with the audience. Many people now address me simply as ‘Meenakshi’. It brings me immense surprise and joy that not only Tamil fans but also audiences from other languages—following the OTT release—identify me with that character. In reality, I do not have long hair like Meenakshi; convincing people that I am actually Mokksha has become a bit of a challenge now. The reason people embraced the character so wholeheartedly is the faith the director placed in me; the role of ‘Meenakshi’ has given me a unique identity. I also thank Minister Rajmohan for attending the event, and Prabhu Deva, one of the great actors I admire…”
…My thanks to him as well. My love and gratitude go to everyone—the Vels family, the entire cast and crew, friends from the media, and the Tamil audience,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, child artist Zara said:
“I am delighted to receive this shield. My heartfelt thanks to my parents, the director, the producer, Vishnu Vishal sir, and Aishwarya ma’am for choosing me for this film. I also thank my co-stars—Moksha ma’am, Aishwarya ma’am, and Rithy ma’am—who made me feel loved and comfortable on the set. My thanks to everyone for this opportunity and for the love shown to me.”

Actor Yogi Babu said, “Greetings to everyone. I have been working continuously with director Chella Ayyavu since the film Silukkuvarpatti Singam. He gave me a full-length role in that film, and in this one, he utilized me in a pivotal moment, even though it was a brief appearance. While I thought Gatta Kusthi would end with the second part, it was Chella sir’s idea to include that specific dialogue at the end, paving the way for a third part. I thank him for that.”

“Celebrating a 50-day run has become quite rare these days. It is a pleasure to see a 50-day celebration held for this film to honor the artists. I hope we get the opportunity to celebrate the 100th day as well. It would be wonderful if all producers hosted such events to celebrate and honor the artists behind their successful films. For us, taking time out of our shooting schedules to attend these victory celebrations is a source of joy.” “My thanks go to everyone, including Minister Rajmohan, Master Prabhu Deva, and Mr. Isari Ganesh,” he said.

The reception accorded to the second part—much like the first—has delighted the film crew. The 50th-day celebration of the movie, which was co-produced by Supra, Aryan Ramesh, and Ishaan Saxena, proved to be a special event that reflected the team’s joy and deep emotion.
