“I directed this film based on a true incident that occurred in the southern districts.
In a specific area, the local residents belonging to a particular caste established a set of rules for themselves—mandating that no one could enter or leave the area in violation of these norms—and they continue to enforce this practice indirectly to this day.
Panankaattan is a film that sheds light on the nature of these restrictions and the impact they have on society.
We filmed in locations such as Palamedu, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, and Munnar, and we plan to release the movie in theaters soon,” said Director Veeramurugan. G. Karikkol Raj, General Secretary of the Nadar Mahajana Sangam, released the first-look poster of this film.
