An excellent flick that focuses on the aspirations of a little boy who dreams of coming up triumphs in the arena of Chess that too on the global platform.
It also talks in detail about caste discrimination while sketching a realistic picture on the plight and predicament of sanitary workers who most of whom lead a miserable life!
Abarnathi seems to have mastered the art of picking roles that are significant and meaningful and here is one more.
The pick of the lot is the little boy Ashwin who plays the aspiring Chess Player ridiculed and rebuffed by the society owing to his background.
Vellaiamma (Abarnathi), a widow, is a sanitary worker who wants her only son to become a lawyer.
But the boy’s mission in life is to break new grounds in the field of Chess.
Hurdles cross his path while his mother’s determination helps him to pursue his passion after she realises that Chess is her son ‘s call.
Suresh Menon ‘s character is like a typical screen villain believing that the poor should never ever cross the path of the rich.
Finally, how the mom and son triumph over the villain in the final showdown is the thrilling rest.
Tamilarasi playing Malar who is the friend of Vellaiamma records a noteworthy performance.
Both Lingesh and Vetri Cheliyan appear in neat cameos.
Dinesh Anthony’s background score is effective.
Abarnathi certainly proves a scene stealer.
