‘Tourist Family’ Shines at SIIMA Awards – Bags a Haul of 6 Awards!
The SIIMA Awards, a prestigious event honoring the finest works and talents of the South Indian film industry, annually recognizes artists and technicians who have excelled across films in various languages.
In this context, the film ‘Tourist Family’—which garnered a warm reception from audiences—achieved a remarkable feat by winning a total of six awards at the SIIMA ceremony.
Released last year and directed by debutant Abishan Jeevindh, ‘Tourist Family’ stars Sasikumar and Simran. The film centers on the lives of Eelam refugees seeking shelter in Tamil Nadu. Beautifully blending elements of comedy, family sentiment, and humanity, the movie was well-received by audiences in theaters and earned praise for its unique storytelling style.
Adding further distinction to its success, ‘Tourist Family’ won six awards in the Critics’ Choice categories: Best Film, Best Debut Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Male Playback Singer, and Best Comedian.
Notably, the Best Debut Director award for Abishan Jeevindh serves as significant recognition for his maiden venture. Similarly, Sasikumar and Simran received awards in the Critics’ Choice categories for their performances. Yogi Babu won the Best Comedian award for the film’s humorous elements, while Vijay Yesudas secured the Best Male Playback Singer award for his vocal contribution. Sean Roldan has composed the music for the film Tourist Family, with cinematography by Arvind Viswanathan and editing by Bharath Vikraman. Starring Sasikumar, Simran, Yogi Babu, Mithun Jai Shankar, Kamalesh, M.S. Bhaskar, and Ramesh Thilak, among others, the film was jointly produced by Nazareth Pasilian, Mahesh Raj Pasilian, and Yuvaraj Ganesan under the banners of Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment.
