‘Ottaram’ Set for Theatrical Release
Produced by P. Samuel under the banner of S.S. Screens, the film ‘Ottaram’ has been written and directed by Ra. Ramamoorthy. It is set to hit the screens soon.
Godwin Frank plays the lead role in the film. Rajalakshmi (heroine of Yaathisai), T.S.K. (known for Lubber Pandhu), and Robo Ganesan (who plays key villainous roles in Kannada cinema) appear in important roles. Additionally, National Award-winning actor M.S. Bhaskar, Thambi Ramaiah, and Munnar Ramesh are part of the cast.
C. Sathya has composed the music, while M.S. Bharani handled the cinematography. R. Sathyanarayanan is the editor. Vivek and Mohanrajan have penned the lyrics, and Sheriff Master has choreographed two of the songs.
Most of the film was shot over a period of more than 30 days amidst heavy fog on a grand set erected in the Mankuthimedu forest area of Idukki district, Kerala. The crew reported that the shoot was fraught with challenges and a sense of apprehension, given that the location is frequented by wild animals, including elephants.
Following the shoot at Mankuthimedu—an area reputed to have some of the cleanest air in Asia—filming also took place for approximately 20 days in the Tondiarpet area of Chennai.
Regarding the film’s story, Director Ra… Ramamoorthy said,
“Beyond merely being a unique film, it promises to offer a truly unusual experience. The screenplay is crafted to spark questions in the minds of every viewer—‘Who are these people? What is happening here? Why do we analyze ourselves so deeply?’
The story is rooted in the pain of sexual harassment faced by women in society and aims to raise awareness about the issue. It portrays how an individual misuses their personal freedom and explores concepts related to ‘self-doctoring’ and ‘self-realization’.”
The film’s first-look poster is set to be released in October, and the launch event for its songs and trailer will take place very soon.
