Press Meet for the Film ‘Bang Bang’ – Featuring the Dynamic Duo Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu!

A press meet was held in Chennai to promote the film ‘Bang Bang,’ which stars Prabhu Deva and Vadivelu. The film is produced by renowned producer Kannan Ravi under the banner of the KRG Group and directed by Sam Rodrigues.

‘Bang Bang,’ directed by Sam Rodrigues, features a cast that includes Prabhu Deva, Vadivelu, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Anu Keerthy, Yavee, and Peter. The film’s cinematography is handled by H.C. Venu and Vignesh Vasu, with a musical score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Editing was managed by Anthony, while the art direction was overseen by Don Bala. Produced by Kannan Ravi for the KRG Group, this zombie action-thriller also features Deepak Ravi as a co-producer.

With production now complete and the film gearing up for an upcoming release, the press meet was organized to promote the project. Attendees included producer Kannan Ravi, editor Anthony, director Sam Rodrigues, actresses Anu Keerthy and Yavee, actor Peter, and costume designer Swaroopa.

Speaking at the event, editor Anthony said:

“Happy Diwali to everyone. Although I have worked with many producers throughout my career, my experience working with producer Kannan Ravi has been truly unforgettable.” “After completing the film’s editing, I reached out to the producer, Kannan Ravi, who was in Chennai, and invited him to watch the film. He suggested, ‘Not here—come to Dubai and screen it there instead.’ When I arrived in Dubai, he told me, ‘Take two weeks to rest here; we can screen the film afterward.’ Once he watched it, he was delighted and promised to promote the movie extensively. It is precisely because of this gesture that I truly hope this film becomes a massive success,” he said.

Costume designer Swarupa remarked:

“This is my first film. The entire costume design for the cast was the director’s vision. I worked closely with his team to research and discuss these ideas, and then executed them according to the director’s guidance.”

Director Sam Rodrigues stated:

“Three years ago, during a similar Diwali-time event, I stood on this very stage. Now, once again, on the eve of Diwali, I find myself here for the promotion of the film Bang Bang.

In the current climate, producer Kannan Ravi is the ‘talk of the town.’ There is a great deal of negative criticism circulating about him, with everyone offering their own take. I hope he will provide a clear explanation regarding this while on stage today.

Back in the 1990s, when Dubai was striving to become a global powerhouse, he was one of many who moved here. His own growth has paralleled the development of Dubai itself.” Generally, those who move abroad from here work hard, hold various positions, eventually become citizens of those countries, and settle down there. Only a very few, even after attaining a comfortable life abroad, remember their homeland and their roots, and plan to do something beneficial for them.

Much like Sridhar Vembu of Zoho, producer Kannan Ravi has also planned to give back to his native land; he has been actively involved in such initiatives and has already accomplished a great deal—with more still underway.

Whenever producer Kannan Ravi speaks, his focus is always on “our Tamil cinema.” He has provided significant support to numerous associations operating within the Tamil film industry.

“I will speak in detail about this film at the pre-release event. As for this movie, both Vadivelu and Prabhu Deva have given their absolute best,” he said.

Actress Anu Krithi remarked:

“This is my second Tamil film. I am grateful to the director and the producer for giving me the opportunity to play such a wonderful role. Working alongside accomplished artists like Vadivelu and Prabhu Deva has been an unforgettable experience.

Many artists rarely get the chance to travel abroad for film shoots, but I was fortunate enough to have that opportunity with this project. I thank the entire team for this. I am eagerly awaiting the day ‘Bang Bang’ hits the theaters.”

Producer Kannan Ravi added:

“Wishing everyone a very Happy Diwali.” For over 25 years, it has been my custom to celebrate special occasions like Deepavali and Pongal in my hometown, together with my relatives, friends, and the local community. I make it a point to bring joy to the people in the surrounding villages by extending help during special occasions.

I hold the firm belief that a certain portion of one’s earnings should be spent on the welfare of others; otherwise, that money will inevitably slip away. That is why, to this day, I set aside a specific percentage of my income to spend on the people.

Prabhu Deva approached me and said, “There is a new director with a ‘zombie’ story—please listen to it and consider giving him an opportunity.” The concept felt unique, and after hearing the story, I was confident that the director, Sam, would certainly reach the next level in his career. Even though he is a newcomer, he has assembled a team filled with highly talented individuals.

Vadivelu and Prabhu Deva have been incredibly cooperative, offering their full support in every aspect of this production without any hesitation. I am grateful to them. This film is sure to become a major topic of conversation.

I was the one who first suggested that we shoot this film in Indonesia. As it turned out—perhaps by some stroke of fate—a volcano on the island, which had remained dormant for the last 20 years, erupted just as our crew arrived for the shoot. The team managed to capture that event on film. In a way, I am much like a volcano; I, too, can erupt at any moment. After all, I am only human—capable of feeling anger, love, and deep affection.

There are four female leads in this film. While they may have engaged in conflicts within the narrative of the story, they were entirely cooperative and supportive on the set. All four of them have delivered excellent performances. “Even though it is a zombie story, I suggested making a few adjustments—offering some insights from the perspective of an audience member who buys a ticket to watch the film. The director and the production team accepted these suggestions and crafted a truly excellent piece of work. This film is a genuine collaborative effort. It has turned out very well,” he said.

Following this, he addressed the recent wave of negative criticism directed at him and his background—providing a calm, clear, and firm response.

He also shared his thoughts on his future plans, as well as his personal views regarding the power of cinema within the realm of politics.
