P. S. Vinodraj who debuted with the globally acclaimed film, Pebbles in 2021, has come up this down to earth flick which showcases Soori & Anna Ben (debut in Tamil) in stellar roles!
Set against a rural backdrop, the screenplay sketches the plight and predicament of a young girl who falls in love with a youth belonging to a lower caste.
The family (mis)construes of the girl being ‘possessed’ and set out on a trip to meet a priest who is supposedly capable of driving it out of both her mind and body.
After visiting their family diety, enroute, the family reaches the place where the priest ‘performs’!
Soori who calls the shots in the family takes a decision of reversal at the point where the family is summoned by the priest!
For its most part, the proceedings follow a measured pace giving scope and space for the rest of the cast to carry the story forward!
The film ends abruptly but it is obviously left to the imagination of the viewers to sum up the rest!
It is worthwhile mentioning that this flick was screened at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival!
