2D Entertainment Actor Suriya & Jyotika present “Meiyazhagan”, featuring Karthi & Arvind Swami in the lead roles, is directed by ’96’ movie fame C.Premkumar. While the film’s worldwide theatrical release is scheduled on September 27, the audio launch was held amidst huge fanfare at CODISSIA in Coimbatore.

Co-producer Rajsekar Karpoorasundarapandian said, “Coimbatore has always been special to me right from my childhood. The Love and hospitality they own is so heart-warming. Since our film delves into the same emotions, we decided to have the film’s audio launch in Coimbatore. The film will be a beautiful treat to all fans.”

Director Premkumar said, “Initially, I wanted to write this as a short story. But it was director Mahesh Narayanan and Vijay Sethupathi, who encouraged me to write this as a film. If Karthi sir didn’t agree for this project, I would have dropped this and moved on to another script. And it’s same with Arvind Swami sir. I thank both of them for this opportunity. Music is so special in this film. Such a grand music was created by Govind Vasantha. As soon as I complete a script, I sit down and start working with Govind. I thank Suriya sir and Jyotika mam for producing this film.”
Actor Karthi said, “Meiyazhagan is a film of beautiful dialogues. I always used to admire faasil sir movies and Salangai Oli. Such beautiful movies are rare and Meiyazhagan is one such film. I still relish the childhood memories in my native village and this movie will resonate it significantly. Prem had gifted a poem like 96 and this will be one more poem from his store. I wanted Suriya Anna to produce this film as 2D Entertainment is capable of bringing this script to screen without any deviation. Arvind Swami is a warm and loveable person. It was wonderful to work with him.”
Actor Arvind Swami said, “I am so glad about Govind Vasantha, hailing from a family, where carnatic and classical music was predominant. Meiyazhagan will not have any film as reference. After a long time, this film left me a lump in the throat. Many years after Paruthiveeran, I hugged Karthi after watching this beautiful film. It’s third film of 2D Entertainment with Govind Vasantha. 96 happens in a single night and so is Meiyazhagan. This will be a film that everyone can sit back, relax and enjoy. Jyotika always tells that Karthi is good in choosing scripts, and he has done it again. I request fans to enjoy the film without getting into box office discussions.”
