The movie ‘Meiyazhagan’ is releasing on September 27 (Puratasi 11). Recently the trailer of this film was released and received a great response, yesterday evening the promotion of the film was held in the presence of fans at Express Avenue Mall in Chennai. The film crew including Karthi and Arvind Samy participated in this.
When actress Devadarshini spoke,
“This is the next film with the director of ’96. While reading the script of this film, I was speechless for two days when director Premkumar told me that you are playing this role. “After 6 years after the film 96, I am now standing in front of the media. We started the film last November and this September we are releasing this film within a year. I was sure that none of the stars of 96 should be in this film. But I can’t think of anyone other than Devdarshini for this role. Similarly, we first approached Sridivya for a younger sister role in the film. At that time he had no dates. But six months later when he was approached for the role he is now playing, he immediately said OK. Why this film at this time..!

“96 is everyone’s favorite movie. Premkumar had looked at every aspect of story and dialogue. One day after the release of that film, it was Jaybeam director Gnanavel who told me that Prem Kumar had a story for the film Meiyazhagan. Immediately I personally contacted him and spoke to him. After the release of 96, Prem Kumar has taken six years for this story. I don’t know how the producers and other heroes left him. From this it can be understood that he is not a person who runs after fame. He is like a rare object in an exhibition.
I had tears in my eyes just reading this script. Prem probably wrote this story during covid. Everyone has a quest. On Diwali and Pongal, everyone from Chennai goes to town. Chennai itself becomes empty. People love their hometown to that extent. Everyone is asking how you acted in this film. But how commercial is this film, why should I not act in it? When I acted in the film Gaithi, it was entirely a night shoot. Lokesh Kanagaraj has given Bendu Nimirthi by giving fight scenes and now I have participated in the night shoot for many days in this film Meiyazhagan. But there is not a single action scene in it.
Even when Arvindswamy sir was talking, we talked that if the emotions present in these scenes are brought to the screen without diminishing, this film will be a huge success. I have a character who tortures Aravindsamy like Athan Athan throughout the film. When the shooting took place in Dindigul, he was taken to a famous hotel there and surprised by buying biryani at 8 in the morning.
