‘Seesa’ is a film produced by Dr. K. Senthilvelan on behalf of Vidiyal Studios. The film, which is directed and written by debutant director Guna Subramaniam, has been written by producer Senthil Velan. It stars Natty Nataraj in the lead role and Nishant Russo in the supporting role. Padini plays the female lead. Along with them, Aadesh Bala, Moorthy, producer Senthil Velan and others play important roles.
The film, which has music composed by Saran Kumar, has cinematography by Perumal and Manivannan. Vilsi J. Sasi has edited the film.
The music and trailer launch of the film ‘Seesa’, which will be released in theaters on January 3, was held on December 15 at Prasad Label in Chennai. Directors Kasthuri Raja, Perarasu, Michael, producer K. Raja and others attended as special guests.
Speaking at the event, Director Guna Subramaniam said, “I am proud to be standing here in front of journalists and media people who have created so many legends and achievers through writings and reviews. I have watched many programs on this same Prasad label from the sidelines. I am happy to be on stage today in this same arena. I have a lot of devotion to God. As per the saying, ‘Whatever you think, that is what you become,’ I have run to stand here. I had all the bad deeds, and I am standing here today after overcoming all that. The reason for this is my producer Shiva, and his wife Sukuna Madam as Parvathy, and it is because of them that I am standing here. I was introduced to the producer as a patient. When he questioned me then, I told him about myself. Then he said, ‘One day we will make it.’ From that, I followed him and he said, ‘Let’s make it.’ From that day on, my life began. When talking about the story, he said that it should not be just an entertainment film but should tell something to the society. Accordingly, he himself told a story. That story was very good, definitely a story that is needed by the society. I wrote the screenplay for it. I am very grateful to the producer sir and madam.
Similarly, our hero Natty sir, who gave me a face when I was a stranger. I have never worked as an assistant director for anyone. I have traveled to some directors, I have done some work in their films myself and learned many things. I went there only to act, and I learned many things from them by going there. Natty sir, believing in me, agreed to act in this film. They say that there are bad people in the world. But, if you search, you will find gold and diamonds in this world. That is how I found gold and diamonds in Natty sir. I like his dignity. I would not have spoken to him before. Today, he is getting opportunities in big films, and they make him comfortable. Such a person came to act in this film for me. He was the first person to call me director. That gave me great happiness. Before I met him, I knew he was a good actor, and after meeting him, I thought there would be no better person in this world. He is that special. I will never forget working with him. My brother Nishant Russo is a young actor. He has acted well in this film. Natty sir also gave him a place. I should thank him for that too. Nishant Russo will definitely become a great actor. The heroine is Padini Kumar, a great actress. An actress who can act without glycerin. She will come to a good place in Tamil cinema. Moorthy, R.S. Ravi, producer Rajanayakam, Aadesh Bala and many others have played important roles, and they have all acted well.

Although producer Senthil Velan is a doctor, he had a story writer and a lyricist. We all have a story, but they don’t see it as a story, they see it as a problem. But the doctor has seen his problems as a story. If we think of our problems as a story, stress etc. will not arise. Therefore, we have got a good story writer and lyricist. I also write songs, but I have been in the cinema for many years and have developed my skills for that. But, the great thing is that Senthil Velan sir has written songs from a different field. Writing stories is easy, writing songs is difficult. Especially, writing songs for the music of the composers who were there at that time was easy. But, writing songs for the music of the current composers is very difficult, their music is so difficult. In such an environment, if he has written very wonderful songs, then Senthil Velan sir must definitely be praised. One line in it was special. The first leader in this world is a Tamilian, a very wonderful line.
If we want to talk about the protagonist of the film, Natty sir, we can compare it to the entry of actor Vijay into politics. They say Vijay sir’s salary is 100 crores, 200 crores, and he has left that salary and entered politics today. That’s how he is doing. He is a great cameraman, if he goes to Hindi cinema, they are ready to pay him several crores. But he has left that and come to act because of his passion for acting. Director Kasthuri Raja said, “Making and creating a film is in the hands of the media. Now my grandson has also come to act, and the media is the reason why my family has risen to this level in cinema. First of all, I have to thank producer Senthil Velan. A producer cannot suddenly see a doctor, but a doctor has made a film. Making a film in today’s world is not an ordinary thing. Making a film today is a difficult thing even for those who have everything. Only God knows how much trouble he would have gone through to bring the film to this level with so much investment without anything. The songs are good, the music, the lyrics are all good, so the journalists should support him. If this film is successful and the doctor earns money, he will definitely make the next film and I hope he will give me a chance in it.
Director Guna spoke about family problems. It is family problems that make people in cinema cowards. Having a family is like running in a race with a pack on your back. I have also experienced that hardship. At the same time, cinema itself chooses someone. It automatically chooses the one who is worthy of it. That is how I came into cinema. I came to Chennai from a village without knowing anything about what Chennai is, who I should see. When I came to Chennai and went to Washermanpet, the place I got off was Maharani Theater. When I searched for the address I should go from there, I kept coming to that theater. Just like how we were born from a mother’s womb, I came to Chennai. Even today, I think that Maharani Theater, which I saw before my eyes, was the first signal for me to come to cinema. Therefore, if we have hard work and tirelessness, no one can shake us. No one can sit on our chair. Even then, I was looking for other jobs and did not look for opportunities in cinema. Even then, cinema called me. The facilities available in cinema are nowhere to be found. Are we grateful to the same cinema? Even today, my children ask me to do films, but I say no. Only when a producer sheds two tears do those who worked on the film feel happy. If 50 lakh rupees are spent, only 15 lakhs of it is spent on the film. In such a situation, Senthil Velan has courageously produced the film, and he should be praised. We should not say now whether it is a small film or a big film, we will know only when we go to the theater. Now many big films have become small films, and small films have become big films. The music director has done a great job, Senthil Velan’s songs are excellent. The cinematography is excellent.

Producer Dr. J. Senthil Velan said, “I am new to the cinema industry. There is a long way between me and cinema. I have seen only four films in total until I completed 12th standard. I became interested in cinema only when I went to college. There are about 15 thousand families in my care, if I go to the hospital at 9 in the morning, I will work until 12 at night. I have a contribution in everything including the story and editing of this film. I see cinema work from 12 at night to 3 in the morning. My wife is expecting January 3rd to come, because at least then I will be back to my old self.
Cinema is not an ordinary job as you might think. Cinema is harder than the work of a bricklayer or a carpenter. They wake up at 4 am and take a cab at 6 am to go to the shooting. The assistants including the light man work very hard. They work so hard that we don’t know whether they are human beings or missions. But we don’t know any of these difficulties. We think cinema is fun and just a lot of fun. Even if we discuss the story, we become dead tired. I feel like this just to make a film, how can those on stage make so many films?
Director Guna came to me addicted to alcohol. He was in a state where he didn’t listen to anyone. He faced many failures due to his desire for cinema, which he started at the age of 8, and he is in a state where he can’t do any work. The first time he listened to what others said was from me. At that time, he said that I have some divine power, I listen to what you say. He said that he should not only do this in this room, but also make everyone listen to it. He made a video with me for that. He did everything from location to makeup for that video. I was amazed after watching that video, it was so good. That video is being used to cure people addicted to alcohol. Then we made a short film, he can say everything softly. Then he said that he can make a film and kept in touch with me. After I said that the film can start, he got nervous, which is why his health deteriorated. I immediately called him and said that I will never say that he cheated me of my money. If the film does not win, we will think that we are not lucky. There are no people who have not faced failure, so I said, make this film without any anxiety. He has been eating idli and curd rice for the last three months so that he should not spend on me, and I did not ask him no matter how much he asked. He is doing this so that the producer should not spend on him. His desire is to direct Nutty Saar, but as soon as he said okay, he got nervous. So he fell ill and made the film in that condition. Guna is a person who can die for cinema. He is a person who lives for cinema without expecting even five paisa. I have also come forward from this society. I have made this film because I want to do something for such a society. We have built a small house together, and I request you to support it.
If I have to talk about the actors, Natty sir is a very good person. He gave us great cooperation. There are no facilities including a caravan, he would have sat on a chair on the road. I must say that he is a producer’s actor. Nishant, Padini and everyone else have acted well. I have squeezed the editor and injured him. My music director is talented, but he does not give songs when we ask. If we ask for a band for Diwali, he will give it only for Pongal, that is one of his problems. Actor Natty Natraj said, “When I met director Guna for this film, he narrated the story for an hour and a half. In the story, he touched on many medical issues.
He handled it very well. I was surprised. I asked how he had written this story. That was when he said that the producer had written the story. That story cannot be told so simply, nor can it be thought of. A bipolar disorder can come in any way. They have handled it very well in the story. I realized what mental breakdown can lead to even when Director Guna is in poor health. No one has ever handled the things mentioned in this story. Although they have told it lightly in some films, they have done it very well and completely in this film. I am ready to act in all six stories that Senthil Velan sir has. I have played a policeman in many films, but the role of the policeman in this film has been handled differently, and I thank the producer who wrote the story for that. Director Guna has many talents. He is a painter, writes poetry, dances, he will definitely come to good shape. Russo, who acted with me, is a great actor. If he had given me the role he played, I would have jumped and run away. It was such a difficult role, and he did it very well. I didn’t have the opportunity to act with actress Badini, but I was amazed to see her scenes, they said that she acted in those scenes in one shot, it was great.
