A remake of Breakdown (1997) with Kurt Russell as the protagonist, this action thriller, a road film remains faithful to the original, frame to frame with respect to the crux of the plot is concerned while the add-on portions evoke a mixed bag of responses!
Ajith who hasn’t had a release in the recent past, looks good in various get ups and is effective in the action sequences.
Action King Arjun asserts his class in the final showdown.
Aarav creates a flutter while Regina Cassandra is passable!
Trisha looks good but less of scope for her in the second half!
Om Prakash and Anirudh have scored brilliantly in cinematography and music respectively.
A couple – Arjun (Ajith) and Kayal (Trisha), after 12 years of matrimony are in the verge of parting company through divorce by mutual consent.
One last road trip on the deserted highway initiates issues. The car breaks down and after Kayal is given a lift to a Highway Motel by a couple, Rakshith (Arjun) and Deepika (Regina Cassandra). When Arjun gets the car started and reaches the Motel she finds Kayal missing following which he gets to know that Kayal has been kidnapped!
The rest is about whether he rescues her or not, narrated in a racy manner!
The back and forth memories of the couple are a bit of a drag. Also, the killing of a man past middle age and his over aged mom – what relevance to the kidnapping act and aftermath?
The film showcases Ajith’s style quotient in a sleek manner and the stunt choreography, especially the final showdown deserves mention.
Ajith’s fans would certainly applaud and appreciate…
