‘Captain Prabhakaran’ to be re-released on August 22 on modern technology

‘Captain Prabhakaran’ is the 100th film starring revolutionary artist Captain Vijayakanth and was a huge success and box office hit. Directed by RK Selvamani, this film released on April 14, 1991, Tamil New Year, and captivated not only Captain fans but also fans from all walks of life. It also earned him the wonderful name ‘Captain’, which people affectionately called him throughout his life.

It has been 34 years since the release of the film ‘Captain Prabhakaran’, which has now been digitally converted with modern 4K technologies and given a new look, and is being re-released on August 22nd.

The film will be released in about 500 theaters across Tamil Nadu. Karthik Venkatesan is re-releasing the film on behalf of Sparrow Cinemas.

The official announcement regarding this was made at a press conference held at the DMDK headquarters office in Koyambedu this morning (August 24) on the occasion of Captain Vijayakanth’s birth anniversary.

Director R.K. Selvamani, DMDK leader Premalatha Vijayakanth, DMDK treasurer L.K. Sutheesh, directors Vikraman, R.V. Udayakumar, Aravindraj and Perarasu were present as special guests at the event.

Sparrow Cinemas, which is releasing the film, had organized a special lunch for more than 1500 people who attended the event on the occasion of the Captain’s birthday.

The film, which stars Captain Vijayakanth in the lead role, was composed by music maestro Ilayaraja. Many important stars like Sarathkumar, Rupini, Ramya Krishnan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Livingston, Gandhimati have acted in the film.
