‘The Dark Heaven’ is a film jointly produced by Kothai Entertainment and S. M. Media Productions. It has been developed as a thrilling crime thriller.
The film stars
Sidhu, Darshika, Rithvika, Vela Ramamoorthy, Nizhalgal Ravi, Aruljyothi, Jayakumar, Sharan, Janakiraman, Vijay Sathya, Aarthi, Sumithra, Alex, Deepan, Shiva Sathish, Danny and many others.
It is written and directed by Balaji. He has already directed the film ‘D3’.
The teaser launch of this film was held at the Green Park Hotel in Chennai. The film crew was present.
Speaking at the event, the film’s cinematographer Manikandan said,
“Visuals are important for a film. So the director went around searching for locations for filming and shooting. We went and shot in areas where even a jeep could not go, taking so much equipment.
He worked very hard for good visuals. That is why
we took everything with such difficulty and shot. Ten assistant directors worked hard for this.
The pre-production before the shooting was also excellent,” he said.
While the film’s editor Raja Arumugam spoke,
“A large part of the story of this thriller film takes place at night. This film will be such that the audience can relate to it. The ‘D3’ film team is also involved in this.”
Music composer Shakti Balaji said,
“I got to know director Balaji through his first film ‘D3’. I liked a line he told me. I asked for the full script but he said he couldn’t give it to me. I will show you the scenes that were shot and you can watch them and compose the background music. Those scenes were great. We composed the background music accordingly. Whenever the director comes to see me, he comes with a team of assistant directors.
The media should support this film like it is a film for big stars.”
Actor Jayakumar said,
“Since working with Balaji in this film, a kind of family bond has developed. I was surprised by how many problems he has overcome.
When I saw him in person, I realized his problems. I have never seen him eat. They say that behind every man’s success, there is a woman. His wife is by his side. If everyone gets a wife like this, they will go somewhere. I see director Balaji as my younger brother,” he said.
Speaking, heroine Dharshika said,
“This is the first stage of my dream. This film is the dream of everyone here. Everyone worked hard for it.
You don’t get an opportunity just by appearing in Bigg Boss. Those who come to cinema with a thirst can definitely reach that place. I don’t think that we are going to make a film after appearing in Bigg Boss. It is a platform, it is a platform, that’s all. I have come to this platform with confidence. I think I will succeed.
For me, I believe that opportunity doesn’t knock on the door, it comes only if we go and look for it. I have learned a lot from this film. All the actors in the film are talented. I have learned a lot from them. Sidhu is a realistic person. I have played the role of Umayyal in this. It is a good Tamil name. I like that name. Everyone worked hard for this film. Everyone’s dream is in it. I hope the film will be successful.”
Executive Producer Manoj said,
“We shot for this film with another hero and we have completed 60 to 70% of it. We could not bear the problems he gave us. We shot beyond that. At one point, it became impossible to continue. So we abandoned it. What was the reason? An actor can come and act in dope, but he should not come and act in dope.”
So we abandoned it. It is a painful experience like an abortion during childbirth. Due to this, the director and the producer were very depressed.
When we shoot it again, the expenses incurred in the first time will also be added to the budget. Therefore, the expenses will double. To compensate for that, we all worked hard for many days. We shot for 48 hours continuously with two quarter sheets and two and a half quarter sheets. We compensated for the losses through hard work.
Although I will bow to the Lord, I have a doubt. Is it true? Isn’t it? But I believed that God exists after watching an event in this film.
When the hero doesn’t come, he
We shot scenes that were not in the forest. According to the scene, a person had to dance as a samy. He danced and danced even after the director said cut, he kept dancing for an hour. He really got the samy. This is in the making video.
There was a gap of three months. I used to watch that video often.
Only then did Sidhu join the film. But when I heard his voice, it was like I heard it somewhere. Only later did I know that his voice was in the last 30 seconds of that making video. When that samy video was shot, someone had played Sidhu talking on a mobile phone. Accordingly, it was a big surprise that Sidhu would continue after that actor, and there was a note in that making video that Sidhu would continue.
That’s when I believed that God exists. This was a spiritual experience.
I have to say one thing here, if there is a big hero, the film will get a good opening. There will be a lot of theaters. Theater owners should consider and take note of one thing here. Just like re-released films are priced at 50 to 100 rupees, if we charge 50 to 100 rupees for the first show for content-based films with good stories like ours, the film will reach the public through word of mouth of those who come. Otherwise, only 50 to 100 people will come to the first show. But if we charge 50 to 100 rupees for tickets, more than 200 people will come. If there is word of mouth, it will be spoken through word of mouth. So it would be good if we could reduce the fee and implement it.
They say that many films are coming. But what is the use of that? How many of the six to seven films that come every week are there? The problem in cinema is that so many uppuma films are coming. You can filter this opportunity by looking at the quality of the film and give it to the audience. You can give the first 100 tickets for 50 to 75 rupees.
Once upon a time, only two types of films were popular: Sivaji MGR films, then Rajini Kamal films, and Vijay Ajith films. We can say that they were films with hero content. Now only two types of films are coming. One is hero content films, and the other is story content films. That is, films with a protagonist, films with a story. These are the only two types that exist now.
We should support films that are made with a story in mind. This film is just such a film, he said.

My director Selvaraghavan used to say that the more effort we put into the film, the more it will come back to us. That’s how much everyone has worked for this film. I will get the desired result. I like Dhanush as much as I like Sidhu. He has such talent and he has a bright future ahead of him. Congratulations to the team.”
Speaking to Director Balaji,
“This is an emotional stage. We have come back from a decision. We are standing here again from a decision. Many people have worked with me for this. The strength of that support is what has kept me going.
I came here from a family in a small village in Tirunelveli district that did not allow cinema. It was only after coming here that I realized the problems in cinema.
No one can recover from being wiped out from such a decision. We have started again and brought us to this point. It is the support, encouragement and trust of the people who stood by us and worked with us that has brought us this far. It is a big thing that Sidhu agreed without worrying about the damage done by the first hero. It is difficult to agree to act like this. But Sidhu compromised and came to act. He will get a good name. It will be a good film for Dharshika too. I have tortured Jayakumar sir, who is acting in this film, for many nights. Forgive me sir.
They are asking about putting an English title in the film. I put it that way because it seemed right to me. It is appropriate. It is believed that in that mountain village, every seven years, in the month of June, all the men die. We gave the title Dark based on this.

The last two years have been a terrible time for me. My mother was unwell and there were many problems. I was under a lot of stress. I did not understand what the next step was, I thought a lot. However, professionally, the trailer and teaser were all good. Then I called him myself and went and met him, he told me the story, it was good. When I was asked to play a police officer, I got a feeling of confidence. I thought it would be a new and challenging role. He is very talented. He will go to a big place because of his talent. Don’t judge anyone by their appearance. He is such a neat worker.
When I look at the scenes he has shot in this film, I can’t find any fault. No matter how much I have looked at them, when I watch them, many people think that they could have done it better. But when I look at the scenes he has shot, I can’t find a single correction. There is no need to correct them. He does it so well. The shooting will take place at two in the morning. Even then, he is not restless.
We had to walk to the shooting location to the point of physical pain without working. After that, we went and shot. The entire crew worked so hard.
I was able to learn about our friends by looking at Instagram. When we post on Instagram that they will console us when we are in trouble, we get comforting comments. But when we go a little further and expect congratulations for something good, they don’t come.
Even strangers had supported and congratulated us. But I didn’t feel like congratulating my friends. At that time, the line spoken by Kavin in the film ‘Tata’ came to my mind. ‘We may be fine. “But they will think, ‘I shouldn’t be better than you.’ I have recognized many friends like that. This film is doing well, everyone should go to the theater and show their support,” he said.
