On the occasion of the 103rd death anniversary of the father of Tamil drama, Thavathiru Srila Sri Sankaradasa Swami, known as the father of Tamil drama, today (13.11.25) at the premises of the South Indian Nadigar Sangam, Nadigar Sangam Vice President Mr. Poochie S. Murugan, Executive Committee Members Mrs. Latha Sethupathi, Mr. Hemachandran, Nominated Executive Committee Members Mrs. Lalitha Kumari, Mr. M.R.M. Balasubramaniam, Mr. Pazhal Gandhi, Mr. Dasarathi, Mr. Anantha Narayanan, and Nadigar Sangam Manager Mr. Thamaraj paid floral tributes to his portrait at the South Indian Nadigar Sangam premises.
Sankaradasa Swami, known as the father of Tamil drama and the renaissanceman of Tamil drama, staged 63 plays with Tamil drama as his inspiration for more than 30 years.
He introduced leading actors like S.G. Kittappa, P.K. Shanmugam brothers, and M.R. Radha. Sankara Das Swamigal passed away on November 13, 1922 in Puducherry.
