“Don’t go outside… you’ll get beaten up”; Vikram Prabhu warns ‘Sirai’ actor Raghu Esakki
Actor Raghu Esakki of the film ‘Sirai’ receives praise from many celebrities including actor Soori and director Pa. Ranjith
‘Sirai’ is a recently released film starring Vikram Prabhu and directed by Suresh Rajakumari, which has received a warm reception. In the film ‘Sirai’, which has received a great response from journalists, critics, and audiences alike, actor Raghu Esakki is receiving praise for his portrayal of the character Govindaraj, the heroine’s brother-in-law.
Actor Raghu Esakki received acting training at Balu Mahendra’s film workshop and Adishakti Theatres in Pondicherry. Raghu Esakki made his debut in the film ‘Naan Thaan Bala’, where actor Vivek played a serious role for the first time. However, he gained some popularity among the audience only after playing Vijay Sethupathi’s younger brother in the film ‘Dharmadurai’. After attracting the attention of the audience by playing Vijay Sethupathi’s youngest brother in ‘Dharmadurai’, actor Raghu Isakki has acted in many films including ‘Poojai’, ‘Kadaikutty Singam’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir’, ‘DSP’, and ‘Soodhu Kavvum 2’. Speaking about his experience acting in the currently running film ‘Sirai’, actor Raghu Isakki said:
“I got this opportunity after participating in the audition for this film. Initially, I was auditioned for a police officer’s role. They liked my acting in that audition, and then cast me in the village character role that I currently play in ‘Sirai’. When the director described this character in detail, I was very interested. It’s a character who is constantly drinking. I don’t have the habit of drinking alcohol in real life. So, acting like that was challenging. Every day during the shoot, when my scenes were being filmed, I realized how important and pivotal this character was to the film.
It makes me happy that many critics are mentioning and praising my character, even without knowing my name. I’m happy that after ‘Dharmadurai’, I’ve got another strong character that resonates with everyone, and that it’s receiving praise.
The first reviews for my films usually come from my friends and family, and they are mostly not satisfied. But for this film ‘Sirai’, everyone praised my performance. Some even criticized my character negatively after watching the film. I take even that as a success for my character and my acting.
Actors Soori, Aruldas, cinematographer Sukumar, and directors Pa. Ranjith, Venkat Prabhu, Tamil, and GNR Kumaravelan praised the film after watching it.
Before acting in the film ‘Sirai’, I have acted in three web series: ‘Lingam’, ‘Madras Mystery’, and a web series for Netflix. They are all set to be released soon. Besides that, I am also acting in a web series for Amazon Prime. That too will be a talked-about project. In all of them, I am playing characters that are crucial turning points in the story.
I am also playing an important role in a film produced by Neelam Productions, starring Manikandan of ‘Good Night’ fame. That film is also like ‘Sirai’…” Similarly, in today’s era where both films and web series are widely discussed, even though they have different sets of audiences, both are important for actors like us. Therefore, acting in both equally is a good thing.
I developed a good rapport with Vikram Prabhu when he acted in the film ‘Neruppuda’, which was produced by my brother’s company. Although there were no combination scenes between him and me in the film ‘Sirai’, he watched the film and praised me. After that, he jokingly commented, “Don’t go anywhere outside… you’re going to get beaten up,” said Raghu Esakki.
