Sasi Kumar – Raju Murugan collaboration: ‘My Lord’ movie music launch event
Produced by Jayanthi Ambedkumar under the Olympia Movies banner, and directed by Raju Murugan, the film ‘My Lord’, starring the acclaimed actor Sasi Kumar in a powerful lead role, is releasing worldwide in theaters from February 13th.
Ahead of the film’s release, the film crew met with members of the press and media yesterday to share information about the film.
At the event,
Guru Somasundaram said:
I first met director Raju Murugan for a role in the film ‘Cuckoo’. I had read his writings before. His experience as a writer and journalist, and his concern for society – all of that is clearly visible in his works. I am proud to have been a part of the film ‘Joker’. I am happy to have had the opportunity to play a good character in this film as well. I was very happy to act with Sasi Sir. In particular, Chaitra is an actress that Tamil cinema needs; her performance is exceptional. This film is one that fully observes life and honestly speaks about its joys and sorrows. That is what creates good cinema for the people.
My thanks to the producer of Olympia Pictures for producing such films without hesitation. Supporting cinema for the people, without just looking at commercial calculations, is commendable. I must also mention the music. My films with Sean Roldan’s music have always been unique. In this film too, the music will be a major strength. This film is releasing on February 13th. I request the media friends to write about it and convey it to the people in a positive way. Thank you very much.
Director Ravikumar said:
Only after watching a film can one truly talk about it. Not for the sake of a formal greeting, but one can confidently express the feelings that the film evokes within us. In that regard, I can confidently say that this is an excellent film, definitely a successful one. If we were to rank Raju Murugan’s films, this one would undoubtedly stand at the top. The film has been crafted with such beauty and depth. Many seeds for future films are hidden within this one. The central theme of this film is very beautiful — “Man may fail; but humanity will never fail.” This very thought elevates the film.
My thanks to the producer, the director, and especially to Sasikumar sir for bringing this film to this level. All the films he acts in evoke a sense of humanity within us. Even after the film ends, it leaves a positive impact on the mind.
The music is another major strength of this film. It directly impacts our hearts. The cinematography and all the technical aspects are excellent. To sum it up, this is an emotional, humane film made for the people. My thanks to everyone who gave me the opportunity to watch this wonderful film and talk about it.
Director Vijay Milton said…,
There are some people in cinema whom we genuinely wish to see succeed. In that sense, Raju Murugan is very important to me. He’s not someone who just tells a story, gets paid, and leaves; he’s someone who makes films with a message, where every word has meaning. Such writers are very rare these days. The reason so many people have gathered here is because of his writing. After watching this film, I can confidently say that this will be another major milestone for Raju Murugan. The film has turned out wonderfully.
Making films with such stories is a challenging task. It requires a courageous producer and an actor who believes in it. A huge thank you to Sasikumar sir for showing that courage and agreeing to this film. It is very important that he continues to support such humane and meaningful films. That is why this film has turned out so honestly. In short, this is a good film that resonates with audiences both commercially and thematically. Like Joker and Cuckoo, this will be a memorable film of this year.
Director T. Se. Gnanavel said…,
In any challenging situation, it is very important to speak and write responsibly, without hurting anyone’s feelings. In that respect, I wholeheartedly want to praise Raju Murugan. He considers every word a responsibility and makes films with conviction and humanity. The fact that I supported his vision is the reason this film has turned out so beautifully.
The first words I said to Sasikumar sir after watching this film were, “Thank you, sir.” In today’s times, making a film that combines commerce and humanity is a huge challenge. Continuously accepting and succeeding in that challenge is highly commendable. The characters in this film and the actors who portrayed them didn’t seem to be acting at all — they were like real people living in that village. In particular, Chaitra is an actress that Tamil cinema should not miss.
This month
Such films detoxify our minds. They make us think about the things happening around us in a new way. If we all support such creations, this journey will become even stronger. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked on this wonderful film.
Lyricist Yugabharathi spoke as follows:
If I start talking about Raju Murugan, it will end up being a big comedy. So, today I have come to this event to thank everyone who came and wholeheartedly wished him well. We grew up in the same town, we were boys who roamed all over the town together. I feel proud when I think that the same Raju Murugan has given us such a film as a director today.
I have no doubt that this film will give Raju Murugan a great success in every way. Special thanks to the producer Ambedkumar. Sasikumar, who has maintained the same humility from Subramaniapuram until today, no matter how successful he has become – my heartfelt congratulations to him. There’s no need to even mention the music of this film. With Sean’s music, this film will be very special.
I haven’t seen this film yet. But as someone who knows the story, I have no doubt that this is an excellent and sure-fire hit film. You will also know that for sure in the coming days.
Director Premkumar spoke as follows:
I am seeing Raju Murugan in person only today. I spoke to him on the phone yesterday. But I know him well – not only his films, but also the way he works, and how a town celebrates him, speaks volumes about his cinema. When I was shooting my film in his town, they had put up banners for him there. If so many people in a town celebrate a director, it is definitely because of the ideas he conveys.
Just hearing that Raju Murugan is making a film with Sasikumar sir, without even knowing the story, the genre, or the budget, our minds start believing that “this film will be good.” That belief itself is a big thing.
I haven’t seen this film yet. However, I have no doubt that this film will definitely be good because of this collaboration. My heartfelt wishes to everyone in the film crew.
Director Mari Selvaraj spoke as follows:
Yesterday, I watched two films back-to-back. One of them was ‘My Lord’. After this film ended, it was a film that made me and my assistants discuss it for a long time. This film clearly asks one question – after an ordinary man loses everything, what is the last weapon he has left? This film presents that question very profoundly.
Sasikumar sir’s character is a man who saves everything from an ant to a rat to a cat, but the moment he raises the question, “Should we abandon a human being?”, I was truly shocked. This is not a film that judges right or wrong. It’s a film that makes us think about the justice, humanity, and morality within our own hearts.
Raju Murugan will continue to make such films with determination. He is someone who strives to bring all the people he met during his time as a writer onto the screen, and for that, Tamil cinema will always be indebted to him.
Sean Roldan’s music, the natural acting of the actors, and producers like Ambedkar sir – all of these have made this film an important one. ‘My Lord’ is a film that made me think and shook me to my core. Big congratulations to the film crew.
Director Lingusamy spoke as follows:
Whether Murugan wins or loses, so many directors are with him, but the even bigger thing is that a producer comes back and says with confidence, “I’m making a film with Murugan.” In our experience, if you ask a producer, “How are you going to promote this film?”, and they can say in a single line, “It’s Murugan’s film,” that itself is the biggest promotion. Thank you very much, sir. Murugan is someone who doesn’t compromise, and he thinks very deeply about everything he does. “Even if I have two choices, I won’t take everything. I will only choose the films I like and the ones that are right,” he says, and his greatest strength lies in actually putting that into practice.
Sasikumar sir—whether he wins or loses, people seek out and watch his films. That trust is the greatest success a
an actor can achieve. The characters he plays are always very clear, without any confusion, and honest. That smile, that body language, that inherent humanity—he uses them without wasting them. Truly, my heartfelt congratulations, sir.
This film will certainly be a talked-about film. I am eagerly waiting for tomorrow. This is a meaningful film that the people need. My heartfelt wishes to everyone.
Think Music Santosh said:
“I’m very happy to be talking about this film. This journey, which has continued since Raju Murugan’s first film ‘Cuckoo’, is something very close to my heart.” “I’ve watched this film more than three or four times. No matter how many times I watch it, I get the same emotion I felt the first time.” Ambedkar sir is a producer with a keen appreciation for cinema.
He is someone who carefully selects good stories and supports meaningful films like this.
Sean Roldan’s music is always special. In this film, it feels even more intimate, as if it’s connected to the heart. This film will definitely achieve great success and become a huge blockbuster. My heartfelt wishes to everyone.
Director A. Venkatesh said:
“My Lord – another important work by Raju Murugan that speaks about society and humanity. When I read ‘Vattiyum Muthalum’, I wondered who this writer was. He is a writer who naturally blends humor, literature, and social perspective. The same quality continues in his films.”
“I watched this film entirely from a fan’s perspective. I watched it with an honest view, checking if it was entertaining, if it conveyed a message, and if it was boring anywhere. Truly, this film touched my heart deeply. Raju Murugan has returned to his form.”
“After films like ‘Joker’ and ‘Cuckoo’, ‘My Lord’ is another excellent film in Raju Murugan’s creative journey.”
“The ability to transform the lives of the people he has met into characters is clearly visible in this film as well. This film will be a success both critically and commercially.”
“Sasikumar is an actor who completely dedicates himself to every film. That dedication is even more evident in this film,” he said. “Music shouldn’t be noticeable beyond the film; but it should deeply resonate in the heart. Sean has perfectly achieved that balance in this film. “In short, ‘My Lord’ is an important film where Raju Murugan has come to prove ‘who he is’ once again.” My best wishes to everyone.
Director Bala said:
Producer Ambedkar Kumar carefully selects very good stories, and producing such meaningful films is a great thing. Make two more films with Raju Murugan, and you will definitely become a minister. “‘Cuckoo’, ‘Joker’, and now ‘My Lord’ – the courage to combine satire and substance in the title itself is unique to Raju Murugan. His ability to transform the people and life experiences he has encountered into characters is clearly evident in this film as well.” Although I haven’t seen the film yet, “judging by the opinions of those who spoke at the event and the reactions to the film, there is no doubt that this is a respectable and high-quality film.”
“Sasikumar is an actor who completely dedicates himself to every film he does. His involvement and performance are even more evident in this film. In particular, the dance sequences are astonishing. Actress Chaitra is a truly good actress. In some scenes, her intense and profound acting captivates the audience. Tamil cinema should protect such actresses and provide them with more opportunities.”
“‘My Lord’ is not only a good film, but also an inspiring one. The film will definitely receive a great reception from the public. Congratulations.”
Producer Ambethkumar spoke as follows:
My thanks to everyone who came to offer their wishes on behalf of Olympia Movies.
I knew Raju Murugan when he was a writer. He met me and narrated the story of Gypsy. That film was a success for me. When he narrated this story, he said we could make it as a small film. Then he mentioned Nirav Shah and Sean Roldan. Finally, he suggested casting Sasikumar. That’s when I gained confidence. To bring this kind of film to the people, an actor like him is definitely needed. Actress Chaitra has also acted wonderfully. Sean has given wonderful music.
I don’t know if I will ever make a film like ‘My Lord’ again, no matter how many films I produce; that’s how excellent this film is. Thank you all. Actress Chaitra said:
“My heartfelt thanks to all the directors who have come here. It is very important to me that Raju sir and all of you came here and spoke about our film. The words you said about my acting and the film have given me immense encouragement.”
“The Tamil language has always been very dear to me. This film has only deepened that affection. This experience has created in me a strong desire to learn more of the Tamil language.”
Speaking about director Raju sir, although I was already familiar with his films, his humanity and confidence became evident to me during the making of this film. Initially, I was a little nervous. But the confidence and support he gave me made this journey easy for me. Sasikumar is a great director and actor; working with him was a wonderful experience. He taught me a lot.
“My sincere thanks to Olympia Films, who included me as a part of this film, and to the entire film crew. This experience will forever remain in my life and artistic journey.” Thank you.
Music composer Sean Roldan said:
This film seems very important to me personally. There are many reasons for that.
The message conveyed in it and the way it has been approached are honest. Addressing socially conscious issues is not easy. But they are discussed with a focus on humanity.
It is only then that it will create a real impact.
When Raju Murugan narrated the story of this film, I thought it would be a socially relevant film, but it turned out to be an entertaining one as well. The music, visuals, and songs – everything supports the story and creates a cinematic experience. It’s not just entertainment; the film also offers thought-provoking content.
Sasikumar, whom I proudly call my elder brother, has no ego whatsoever. He is a wonderful person and has made this film exceptionally well. I was amazed by Chaitra’s performance. She has transformed into a girl from Kovilpatti.
This endeavor is a unique artistic experience. My heartfelt congratulations to the hard work and honest approach of this film crew.
Actor Sasikumar spoke as follows:
“This film is not centered around the court. The court scenes in the film only last about ten minutes. But this story is about power. If power falls into the hands of a simple, ordinary man, how will he use it? What can he do with that power? This film raises these questions. The phrase ‘My Lord’ refers to the mindset of that man and the character of Muthusilpi. That’s why we chose this title,”
“Everyone here is a guide to me. I dedicate the wishes I receive here to my elder brother Bala. These wishes are not just for me; they are for everyone who created this film.
“The producer gave complete freedom for this story, saying, ‘Don’t change anything in the story. Make the film exactly as the story is.’ Such trust is a great thing for any director. My heartfelt thanks to producer Ambeth Kumar for that trust,” he said.
“This film is a collective journey. The actors, music director, singers, cinematographer, editor – everyone has given their full effort and honesty to this film. They called director Raju Murugan a psycho, and I was even scared when I worked with him, but he wasn’t like that. Only after watching the finished film did I understand. He’s a psycho when it comes to cinema. He’s a psycho when it comes to delivering good films. This film will definitely entertain everyone. If you speak honestly after watching the film, that will be the greatest recognition for us,” Thank you.
Director Raju Murugan spoke as follows…
“This is truly a somewhat emotional moment for me. The fact that so many people here spoke such meaningful and profound words about me is a great joy for me,” he began his speech.
“When I was an assistant director, I bought the CD of Bala sir’s ‘Pithamagan’ 52 times every day. That film gave me the belief that the lives, pain, and honesty of ordinary people can be transformed into cinema. It’s an honor that he came and wished me well.
Mari Selvaraj’s films made me feel ashamed of myself. I learned from him, and I’m happy that he also wished me well. My guru, Lingusamy sir, held my hand and guided me into cinema; my thanks to him.
My thanks to all the personalities who came here and wished me well, including Guru Somasundaram, A. Venkatesh, Ravikumar, Gnanavel, and Yugabharathi.
The fundamental aim of this film is to give hope to the people.
This film was not created based on any calculations. ‘My Lord’ was created based on the trust that a man named ‘Ambedkumar’ placed in a man named ‘Raju Murugan’,” he said. “This film would not have been made if it weren’t for a man named Ambethkumar. During a period when I was at a very low point in my life, he called me and said, ‘Life must keep moving forward, sir; you shouldn’t sit idle even for a single day.’ He gave me the mindset to start working on the film the very next day. For that, I express my heartfelt gratitude to him,”
“The reason I naturally pray again and again for this film to be a success is for the sake of Ambethkumar, the man who placed his trust in me. My only thought was that the trust he placed in me should not be proven wrong,” he said.
“Think Music Santosh is the one who carried this film on his shoulders from day one, constantly staying by my side with the intention of somehow getting it released in the market. From the day he watched the film until today, he has been talking about it and has been with me at every stage. If there’s any problem, if Santosh is there, it will definitely be resolved. He is always my ‘all-time darling’,”
“The actress in this film, Chaitra, initially had some scheduling issues. But after hearing the story, she overcame everything and immediately came and acted in the film. I firmly believe that she has a great future in Tamil cinema,” he said.
The bond between Shan Roldan and me is not just about music. It’s a soulful relationship with many layers, encompassing literature, politics, and society. All of that combined is what manifests in his music. He has reached another level in this film.
Sasikumar Anna
Otherwise, this film wouldn’t exist; he was a pillar of support throughout the entire film. Money is needed to talk about love and trust. I must somehow earn money from this film and give it to my producer. I hope you all will like this film. Thank you.
