Pop Star Dhee Captivates Fans with the Songs of ‘Vari Vari’

Renowned Australian-Tamil singer and songwriter Dhee—who continues to garner global attention—has returned to her fans with a new, bold, and deeply emotional single titled ‘Vari Vari’.

Having consistently featured in international-level tracks—such as “Ancient Seeds,” released in collaboration with WondaGurl and Diva Savage, and “Don’t Look Down,” featuring Ed Sheeran—she has now unveiled this brand-new song.

Furthermore, Dhee has signed a deal with Viswa Records (Viswa Records US), a label co-founded earlier this year by Grammy-nominated songwriter Savan Kotecha in partnership with Republic Records.

With music composed by the celebrated Santosh Narayanan and lyrics penned by the poet Vivek, Dhee—in collaboration with Viswa Records—has released ‘Vari Vari’ to her fans; a beautiful song that touches the very depths of the heart.

Speaking about the track, Dhee noted: “This song is about someone or something that has left us and is no longer here; it is about a lost feeling. The entire song is an endeavor to reclaim that feeling—a search for the ‘you’ that you may have lost along the way.”

An intimate and emotionally raw love song, ‘Vari Vari’ captures the enduring imprint of a relationship in its purest form. Guided by singer Dhee’s soulful alto vocals and an emotional sensibility that traverses various musical genres, this song—deeply rooted in Tamil folk traditions—evokes a profound sense of personal intimacy. In doing so, it not only solidifies her position at the forefront of Tamil pop music but also propels the music of the diaspora further into the global mainstream.

Built upon a foundation of rhythmic clapping and resonant guitar lines, the musical arrangement creates ample space for her voice to take center stage. Her vocal delivery possesses a quiet, magnetic allure; it draws listeners into a chorus that feels simultaneously expansive and immediate. What begins as a reflection on new love gracefully unfolds into a soothing and contemplative meditation on unconditional bonds—connections that transcend romance to linger indefinitely within one’s emotional landscape.

In this essence, the refrain “Vaari Vaari” (meaning “Come here” or “Come with me”) transforms into a tender invitation for intimacy and reconnection, echoing both a beckoning call and a sense of forward motion. Rooted in rural Tamil linguistic structures and folk sensibilities, the song possesses an innate poetic quality that feels simultaneously timeless and distinctly contemporary. Capturing the way certain bonds persist in memory without ever finding formal closure, the narrative unfolds with a sense of open-ended continuity.

Dhee’s musical journey is a harmonious blend of enduring substance and fresh innovation. Born in Colombo, Dhee was raised in Australia. Introduced through the song ‘Naan Nee’ from the film Madras (2014), she lent her distinctive voice to films such as Irudhi Suttru (2016) and Kaala (2018). Achieving global fame with the track ‘Rowdy Baby’ from the movie Maari 2 (2018), she established herself as one of the leading voices in Tamil pop music. Surpassing 1.5 billion views, the song went on to become the most-watched Tamil music video of all time. Continuing her musical journey, Dhee further solidified her presence on international streaming platforms in 2021 by releasing the song ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ in collaboration with composer Santhosh Narayanan.

Beyond music, Dhee’s cultural impact continues to grow. Recently, alongside Grammy-nominated R&B artist GIVĒON and emerging talent Absolutely, she became one of the faces of H&M’s global ‘Red Stage’ campaign. As part of this initiative, she infused Indian musical elements into GIVĒON’s track ‘Like I Want You’—offering a fresh interpretation—thereby reaffirming her role as a bridge connecting diverse musical worlds.

Through tracks like ‘Vari Vari,’ Dhee continues to redefine the boundaries of global Tamil music—a realm where tradition, lived experience, and contemporary creativity converge to form something deeply human. Articulating her thoughts with clarity and composure, she delivers work that is both honest and deeply touching. This song reflects his ability to seamlessly blend tradition with modern storytelling, thereby creating music that is deeply rooted yet resonates globally.
‘Kum…’ further cements his place as one of the most unique voices in contemporary South Asian music.
