‘Isaignani’ Ilaiyaraaja Enters His 51st Year in Music! Meets Press with Enthusiasm Amidst Song Recording Rush.

‘Isaignani’ Ilaiyaraaja, who debuted as a music composer with the film Annakkili, has scored music for over 1,000 films; having completed 50 years in the industry, he enters his 51st year today, May 14, 2026. Consequently, wishes are pouring in for him from members of the film fraternity and fans alike.

In this context, while meeting with journalists, Ilaiyaraaja remarked enthusiastically, “Only the years have passed; my approach to work remains exactly the same—I work with the same level of dedication now as I did for my very first film. Even right now,” he added, pointing to Director Balki who was seated beside him, “I am just about to head out for a song recording session for the film he is directing.”

Acceding to requests from the journalists, he shared nostalgic memories regarding his debut film and recounted the creative process behind composing the song “Annakkili Unnai Theduthe”—a melody that continues to hold an unshakable place in the hearts of fans, both then and now.

Director K. Bhagyaraj, lyricist Pa. Vijay, and others who had arrived to offer their wishes on the commencement of Ilaiyaraaja’s 51st year in music were present at the press conference. Lyricist Pa. Vijay garlanded Ilaiyaraaja, paid his respects, and sought his blessings.
