From world-class technicians to powerhouse actors: Bhumi Satish Pednekar joins ‘The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ as Belavadi Mallamma
The star-studded cast of the film The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj continues to expand. Shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most magnificent historical epics, the project keeps attracting acclaimed actors and globally recognized technicians alike.
Actress Bhumi Satish Pednekar has now officially joined this powerful ensemble. We have learned exclusively that she will portray the role of Belavadi Mallamma—a fearless warrior queen remembered for her courage and unwavering resolve—in this grand production. Her inclusion further strengthens a cast led by Rishab Shetty, who plays the legendary warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, alongside other prominent actors such as Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi. Expressing her excitement about joining the project, Bhumi Pednekar said: “I am immensely proud to be part of this Indian cinematic spectacle—the first of its kind on this scale—centered on the life and legacy of the great Maratha warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is a privilege to portray and bring to life the character of Belavadi Mallamma, the brave queen of Karnataka. The film The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, directed and produced by Sandeep Singh, is being mounted on a massive scale. It is set to be one of the grandest cinematic spectacles ever created, centering on the life of the legendary Maratha warrior-king.
Planned as a two-part film, the screenplay has been written by Rishi Virmani. Amit Trivedi is composing the music, while National Award-winning lyricist Prasoon Joshi is penning the lyrics. Featuring an ever-expanding cast of leading actors and a team of globally acclaimed technicians, this grand film is scheduled to begin shooting later this year. Extensive pre-production work is currently underway to bring this historic epic to life.
