Audio Launch of Suriya’s ‘Viswanath & Sons’!
The audio launch of the film ‘Viswanath & Sons’—starring Suriya and directed by Venky Atluri—was held in a grand, festive manner in Coimbatore. The film is produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.
Directed by Venky Atluri, ‘Viswanath & Sons’ features a cast that includes Suriya, Mamitha Baiju, Radhika Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Yogi Babu, Nassar, Kali Venkat, George Maryan, and Rajiv Menon. National Award-winning composer G.V. Prakash Kumar has scored the music, while Nimish Ravi has handled the cinematography. Produced jointly by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya on behalf of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, the film is a family entertainer. Srikara Studios is presenting the movie.
The audio launch event for ‘Viswanath & Sons’—which is set for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14—took place at the auditorium of a private college in Coimbatore, amidst thousands of students, in a grand, festival-like atmosphere. Many notable figures attended the event, including producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, director Venky Atluri, music composer GV Prakash Kumar, actor Suriya, actress Mamitha Baiju, actor Sunil Reddy, lyricist Arunraja Kamaraj, and producer Rajsekar Pandian.
Speaking at the event, lyricist Arunraja Kamaraj said, “It was GV Prakash Kumar who first gave me the opportunity to be part of such a grand event. When I was struggling in life, he made me a lyricist and provided me with a massive platform. I have been associated with him since his very first film.
The primary reason I rose to become a director today is the film Aayutha Ezhuthu, starring Suriya. After watching that movie, I resolved to become a director myself. Today, I have written a song for his film and even sung for it; I am overjoyed by this.
Suriya Sir has been a tremendous inspiration to me at every stage of my life. He is an inspiration not just to me, but to everyone. I extend my gratitude to him for that.
Director Venky Atluri placed his trust in me and gave me the opportunity to write a song for this film. Until now, I had mostly written songs that celebrated the hero, where I would sing with intense, high-energy vocals to bring the track to life. But for this film, I was asked to adopt a gentle, ‘butterfly-like’ approach—and it was a romantic song, at that. Thanks to the reception from fans like you, it has become a massive hit. I have written a romantic song after a long time, and I view this as a very positive development. I thank Venky, Suriya, and GV Prakash Kumar for this opportunity.”
Actress Mamitha Baiju said, “I thank the producers and the director for placing their trust in me and giving me this opportunity.” “The director remains completely composed and natural on the set. I wish to continue acting under his direction.
I had previously missed an opportunity to act alongside Suriya, but this time, God granted me that chance. Working with him was a wonderful, unforgettable experience. I learned so much just by observing him on set—his discipline, his approach, the way he prepares for a scene, and his conduct behind the camera; the list goes on. He was a great inspiration to me in every aspect. He is a very generous co-star. My thanks to him.
The chemistry between Suriya and Sunil Reddy on set is excellent, and that reflects in the film as well. We are currently missing Radhika Sarathkumar; she is a wonderful artist and a delightful person. She was also a mentor to me on the set.”
Music composer G.V. Prakash Kumar said, “After the massive hit Vaathi, I thank producers Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya for giving me the opportunity to compose music for this film as well.
The film Viswanath & Sons is very special. Suriya and I are working together again after Soorarai Pottru. Soorarai Pottru was the film that earned us both our first National Awards; it was a collaboration that brought us immense luck.

Producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi said, “This is my second Tamil film. We actually launched the project here in Coimbatore. Although Telugu is my mother tongue, I have many friends among the Tamil people. Tamil audiences celebrated our production, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. I mention this not for the sake of comparison, but to illustrate the immense confidence we have in this film; I would describe this movie as the Tamil equivalent of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo in terms of its impact and quality.
Mamitha Baiju is a favorite among Gen Z youth and has earned their immense affection.

When I narrated the story to producer Rajasekar from 2D Entertainment, he was moved to tears at certain points. He immediately arranged an opportunity for me to meet Suriya and narrate the story to him.” I thank Rajasekar for this.

On the set, Mamitha Baiju was lively and energetic, like a little sister to everyone. Her presence would instantly lift the mood of the entire set. She made everyone feel as though we were with family, rather than just working with an actress; she cared for everyone like a family member. Suriya sir was like a brother, Radhika madam like a mother, and Mamitha like a younger sister.
This marks my third collaboration with GV Prakash Kumar. Every time—and in every aspect—he continues to surprise me. He always delivers something even better than what I had expected.

I chose not to celebrate my birthday this year for a specific reason. However, I have been keenly observing what each of you—my fans—has been doing. More than five thousand of you have donated blood. You have provided welfare assistance to over forty thousand people. You have gifted clothes to everyone, from small children to others, choosing exactly what they desired. I have seen it all. Thank you for the love you have for me.” Since Coimbatore is my birthplace, a flood of ‘flashbacks’ comes rushing back the moment I arrive here. Let me share just one of them. Until I finished the twelfth grade, I used to come to Coimbatore every year for the summer holidays. During the car rides from the Coimbatore railway station, and throughout my time here—passing through places like Sulur, Kasi Gounder Pudur, Puliyampatti, and Kavundampalayam—I experienced it all: listening to Ilaiyaraaja’s songs, herding goats and cattle, driving bullock carts, walking through fields, sleeping on the field ridges, and diving into wells.
Last year, I brought Diya and Dev along and happily shared these memories with them—pointing out the very tamarind tree where I played, the well I used to dive into, and the irrigation canal where I used to lie down. We also visited our family deity’s temple. I mention all this because the time we spend in front of digital screens has increased—and I include myself in this. Conversely, the time spent with family members has dwindled. So, I urge you to please dedicate a little more time to your family. I want to reiterate that this applies to me as well; I am telling myself that I need to cut down on screen time and spend more time with my family.
Create memories. Cherish them. You find these moments when you are back in your hometown. Never miss out on this. Instead of the memories formed by looking at a phone, create memories by talking and interacting with the people around you—learning about your hometown and your relationships. I felt compelled to share this.

Sunil and I didn’t go to school together, but we have traveled to many places together. We have reunited on screen after 25 years.
G.V. Prakash Kumar, the star of today’s event, is someone I admired even back when I was young—before I had even grown a mustache. I was amazed and impressed when I saw him as a young boy composing jingles for Radio Mirchi.
Moreover, he was the first music director to step onto the stage to sing and dance. I was truly impressed when I saw him perform the song from the movie Aadukalam on stage. Since then, I have journeyed alongside him, and Soorarai Pottru stands out as a significant film in that journey; he elevated the climax scene beautifully with the music. That film also earned the honor of a National Award. I cherish many fond memories and experiences with him. I am grateful for the unconditional love he shows me.
The chemistry between Radhika and Mamitha in this film is going to be special.
As soon as we heard the story, we all unanimously chose Mamitha for the role. We were supposed to act together in a film previously, but it didn’t happen for certain reasons. Now, we have finally come together for this project. Mamitha has worked magic in this film; she has portrayed the character wonderfully. She has also dubbed for herself in Tamil and speaks the language very well.
Director Venky mentioned that he prayed for this film’s success, and I prayed too. I watched his film Lucky Baskhar and was thoroughly impressed—it was fantastic.
Different directors have given me different identities, and Viswanathan & Sons has given me a new one. That identity was gifted to me by director Venky. It has been a long time since I acted in a film like this. I have great respect for his writing. There are three women in this movie, and he has crafted all three characters beautifully. He has portrayed relationships wonderfully. Watching this film will bring a gentle smile to your lips—a smile that will stay with you throughout the movie.
This film has everything: romance, family elements, and comedy. It features heroism, too. It is a wholesome family entertainer that blends all these genres.
