A heartfelt tribute paid to K. Bhagyaraj by the ‘Kannadathu Paingili’ film crew

In the film Kannadathu Paingili, directed by Sai Ramani, K. Bhagyaraj plays a pivotal role, while T. Rajendar has penned the lyrics and composed the music. It is noteworthy that this marks the first time Bhagyaraj and T. Rajendar have collaborated on a project.

Kannadathu Paingili, produced by Indhumathi Gopi on behalf of MBM Entertainment, stands as the final film featuring actor-director K. Bhagyaraj. The movie has been written and directed by Sai Ramani, known for directing films such as Singam Puli and Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva. Speaking about this, Director Sai Ramani said, “The sudden demise of Bhagyaraj Sir has left us in deep shock and sorrow.

We had planned to hold the film’s first press meet on the final day of shooting, featuring both Bhagyaraj Sir and T. Rajendar Sir. However, it was deeply distressing that we ended up having to hold a condolence tribute for Bhagyaraj Sir on that very day.

Bhagyaraj Sir had brilliantly completed all his portions for the film Kannadathu Paingili. He was also keen on the film being promoted effectively. He passed away just as a few close-up shots remained to be filmed; consequently, we intend to create those scenes using AI technology.

This film also marks the reunion of Bhagyaraj and his wife, Poornima Bhagyaraj, on screen after nearly 35 years; notably, they have played the roles of husband and wife.

As a tribute to Bhagyaraj Sir, we have released the final scene he shot for Kannadathu Paingili. In this film, which blends romance and comedy, Bhagyaraj Sir appears throughout the movie in a pivotal role as the protagonist’s father.”

Newcomers Amal Ajith and Aadhya play the lead roles in the film. Singam Puli, Pugazh, Aathavan, and Lollu Sabha Jeeva feature in important roles.

Five popular YouTubers—Koomapatti Thangapandi, Autokkaran Deepak, and Idiyappam Siva, among others—are making their cinema debut with this film.

Several actors from Karnataka also play key roles.

S. R. Sathish Kumar, known for his cinematography in films like Peranmai, Meagaman, and Wagah, has handled the cinematography for Kannadathu Paingili. Director Sai Ramani has stated that the film’s story is based on a true incident that took place in the 1990s in Hosur, located on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border.
