‘Murugar Yugam Pirandachi’ is a devotional song dedicated to the devotees of Lord Murugan.
For the very first time, a song has been created with the sole objective of allowing music lovers and Murugan devotees worldwide to use it without copyright restrictions. That song is ‘Murugar Yugam Pirandachi’. It has been produced by the Punniyam Foundation and is being released by the renowned music company, Divo Music.
The song was created by Jayam S.K. Gopi—a well-known producer, distributor, and actor. Having stepped away from politics to embrace spirituality, he has become a dedicated devotee of Lord Murugan, earning the title ‘Murugan Arutselvar’ (One Blessed by Murugan) for his contributions to the path of devotion. For the past two years, he has been deeply engaged in research concerning Lord Murugan.
Now, he has created this special song—born from his research—for Murugan devotees across the globe. It is sung by Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, an artist known for her divine voice.
Notably, this is the first devotional song ever sung by Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, who is celebrated in the Tamil film industry. Furthermore, the music has been composed by Dayanand Piraisoodan, the son of the famous film lyricist and poet Piraisoodan.
“The name ‘Piraisoodan’ refers to Lord Shiva, and Murugan is Shiva’s son. In this context, the fact that poet Piraisoodan’s son, Dayanand Piraisoodan, composed the music feels incredibly fitting—as if Lord Murugan himself composed it,” the production team remarked.
The lyrics of the song highlight the fact that the worship of Lord Murugan has existed across the land, from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari.
Musicians who have worked on numerous films contributed to this project.
This musical initiative is by Jayam S.K. Speaking on the occasion, Gopi said:
“I did not create this song; rather, it came into being as a result of a divine command placed within me by Lord Murugan. It was Lord Murugan who guided me. This song has been created for devotees of Lord Murugan across the globe.
