Teynampet Apollo Cancer Centre

Expanded into ‘Apollo Specialty Hospital, Teynampet’

Apollo Hospitals, known for consistently introducing modern treatment modalities and state-of-the-art medical technologies, has expanded the Teynampet Apollo Cancer Centre—a leading hub for cancer care—into a comprehensive multi-specialty hospital. Effective today, the facility will operate under the name ‘Apollo Specialty Hospital, Teynampet’.
Established in 1993, the Teynampet Apollo Cancer Centre has served as a premier institution for cancer treatment for the past 33 years. While it previously focused on complex and advanced treatments for stage III and IV cancers, it will now offer comprehensive medical and surgical services across various specialties, including Cardiology, Neurology and Neurosciences, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Spine and Orthopaedics, Urology, Critical Care, and General Medicine.
To facilitate this expansion, the hospital’s infrastructure has been significantly upgraded. The facility now houses a total of 300 beds—including 51 critical care beds—along with five modern operating theatres and an advanced Cath Lab.

Dr. K.G. Arunraj, IAS, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest, while Dr. Taras Ahmed, IAS, Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, participated as the guest of honour. Speaking at the event, Dr. Arunraj emphasized the necessity of expanding integrated healthcare systems in the current context and highlighted their importance in modern medical treatment.
“There is an increasing need for integrated assessment and treatment by multidisciplinary specialists for patients presenting with complex and critical medical conditions. Accurate diagnosis, prompt treatment, and access to modern medical technology are essential for them. In this regard, Tamil Nadu continues to strengthen its public and private healthcare infrastructure, creating an environment conducive to delivering high-quality medical services. The government supports such initiatives aimed at ensuring easy public access to high-quality and specialized medical facilities,” he said. Dr. Arunraj further expressed his gratitude to Apollo Hospitals for being one of the first institutions to contribute ₹1 crore to the “Nalam TN” initiative.

The medical field has witnessed tremendous growth in recent years. Opportunities for precise diagnosis, advanced treatment methods, and superior clinical outcomes have increased. At the same time, medical care has become more specialized and complex.
Our goal is to coordinate specialists from various disciplines to provide the comprehensive care a patient needs, tailored to their specific health condition. This ensures that patients and their families do not have to face the complexities of intricate medical treatments alone.
