“Maithri” is an upcoming film produced by Tarun Kumar Pabna under the banner of “Perfect Picture Studios.”
It is directed by debutant filmmaker Bharath J.S. The film’s audio launch ceremony was held at the Prasad Lab theatre in Vadapalani.
Director Bharath J.S. plays the male lead, while Gayathri Shan plays the female lead. Nandan, Ravi Ezhumalai, Sridhar, Shivangi, and others appear in key roles.
Joel Johns, the music composer behind the Malayalam films Anuragam and Palum Pazhamum (released in 2023–24), makes his Tamil debut with this movie.
Nandagopal (Secretary of the Chennai-Chengalpattu Film Distributors Association), film distributor Vivekananda, and director Meera Kathiravan graced the audio launch event as special guests.
Debutant director Bharath J.S. has crafted the film to address contemporary social issues, focusing on the societal challenges faced by lovers and the emotional struggles of human beings.
Lyricists Yugabharathi, Kutti Revathi, Vasan, Pa. Raja, and Ilamaran (debut) have penned the songs for this film.
Speaking at the event, special guest Meera Kathiravan said:
“Journalists have always extended their support to small films. However, it is difficult for small films to remain in theatres for more than three days these days.
In the past, many films would become hits after the first week through ‘late pickup’—gaining momentum over time. Today, however, such possibilities no longer exist.
At a time like this, it is essential for socially conscious films like Maithri to succeed. I extend my best wishes to the film crew.”
