New Production Company Launched by Thyaga Kurinjiselvan and Dr. R. Vijayalakshmi!
Film producers Thyaga Kurinjiselvan and Dr. R. Vijayalakshmi have joined forces to launch a new film production company. The inaugural ceremony of ‘Thyagaraja Talkies’ was held today in a grand manner.
Established with the aim of spearheading innovative initiatives in the film industry, the launch event was graced by prominent figures from the film fraternity—including directors, producers, and actors—as well as members of the media.
Actor Jai will play the lead role in the company’s debut film.
Members of the film industry and the media extended their best wishes to producers Thyaga Kurinjiselvan and Dr. R. Vijayalakshmi for this new venture. At the event,
Director Venkat Prabhu spoke as follows:
“I have known Kurinji Sir for many years. Although he entered the film production industry a bit late, he has arrived at the right time. I extend my heartfelt wishes to the entire film crew—including the director and cinematographer—working on the debut film of his new production company, as well as to actor Jai.
Completing a film within the planned budget is crucial for maintaining a good relationship between the producer and the director. This requires proper planning during the pre-production phase. By finalizing the budget in advance and executing the work accordingly, unnecessary issues can be avoided.

“I returned to this city just yesterday. The happiest news I received upon my arrival was that Thyaga Kurinjiselvan has become a film producer. I first met him in Japan about 15 or 20 years ago. At that time, I had suffered a leg injury from an accident. He stood by me, helped alleviate the pain in my leg, and rendered a service that I will never forget in my lifetime. Even today, whenever I need money, before checking my own pockets or bank account, I check to see if he has it available. That is the depth of the affection and closeness we share.” Coming from a very simple background, he has not changed his nature to this day. He never hesitates to do whatever he can when someone asks for help. Whenever I visit Japan, he meets me and spends time with me from eight in the morning until eight at night. No matter how many people show up, he attends to everyone without ever getting weary. It brings me both joy and concern to see such a man venture into film production now. This is because the film industry is a jungle filled with challenges; yet, cinema is a magnificent art form, and I want him to succeed in it.
The affection I hold for Ilaiyaraaja is fully reciprocated by him. He deeply loves his songs. Even though we might sometimes laugh when he sings, that bond of affection remains at the core of our relationship. Inspired by this very trait of his, I have even created a character based on him in a story I am currently writing.
Beyond cinema, his attitude towards helping others is truly noble. He is a well-loved figure and a steadfast support to his friends. He has earned love and friendship—things that money cannot buy. He also holds immense affection for his family. It brings me great joy that he has stepped into production for the sake of his sister’s son. I hope this young man proves his talent through this film.
Rather than being a massive, grand spectacle, this film is shaping up to be a simple, humorous movie.
