It is set to release in theaters on October 16th.
Ahead of the release, the film crew met with members of the press and media to share their experiences and details regarding the making of the movie.
At the event…
Producer G. M. Morgan spoke as follows:
“I am very happy to meet you all. This is my first film.
Regarding this movie, I met Raghav Mirdath at a friend’s house. Within just ten minutes of our conversation there, we decided to produce this film. He narrated many stories, but I told him I specifically wanted a comedy film. That is how the opportunity to produce this movie came about. It is a film for everyone to watch; I believe people of all ages—from children to adults—will enjoy it.” “So, everyone should watch and enjoy the movie.” Thank you.
Cinemawala Sathish spoke as follows:
“Greetings. This stage holds great emotional significance for me. I have been coming here and sitting among you for many years; indeed, my journey began with you. I originally came here aspiring to act in films, but that opportunity didn’t materialize. Consequently, I chose a technical path for my career. Today, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to producer Mr. G.M. Morgan and director Raghav Mirdath for creating an opportunity for me to act again through this film. Raghav Mirdath’s previous directorial venture, Bun Butter Jam, received a warm reception. Many highly talented individuals have worked on this film as well; everyone involved possesses unique skills. Actors such as Sasi, Qureshi, and Devadarshini Madam are part of the cast, and working alongside them was a fascinating experience.
Just as my debut film, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, was unique and unconventional, this film also adopts a similarly distinctive approach. One might wonder if such a concept is feasible, but we have strived to bring that vision to the screen effectively. Many of the actors in Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom were newcomers at the time. I firmly believe that you will extend the same support to the film Drones and our team that you showed to that earlier movie. Thank you very much.”
RJ Deepak spoke as follows:
“Greetings to all my friends in the press and media. I have often imagined standing here and speaking while acting in a film, and I am delighted that this dream has come true today. This opportunity…” I extend my heartfelt thanks to Director Raghav Mirdath and Producer G.M. Morgan for this opportunity. My emotions right now mirror the nature of this film—they are quite unique. Becoming an actor was a dream of mine long before I began my journey as an RJ. It brings me great joy to realize that the recognition I gained through my radio work paved the way for this opportunity. I am thrilled that they placed their trust in me, giving me a role that spans the entire film rather than just a brief appearance.
Working with my co-stars on this film was a wonderful experience. You might have seen ‘Cinema-wala’ Satish appear for two minutes in the trailer; he has a similar presence in the movie. I also had the pleasure of working with Dravid; he is a brilliant artist. Anjali is an incredibly expressive actor. During shoots, she would deliver deeply emotional performances, often becoming even more moved after watching the playback on the monitor. Siddhi Idnani also plays a significant role in the film, and I thank her as well. Please make sure to watch the movie in theaters on October 16th. We would be delighted if you shared your feedback with us after watching it. Thank you!
Actress Anjali Nair spoke as follows…
Greetings to everyone. You have shown immense support for my films in the past, and I hope you will continue to support this one as well. First, I want to thank all my co-stars. Everyone has performed exceptionally well…
Although we all knew each other beforehand, this is the first time we have worked together. I would like to thank our producer G.M. Morgan, director Raghav Mirdath, and the entire crew. Despite being a small team, we worked together as a very strong unit.
We have embarked on a unique venture with this film. ‘Drones’ incorporates elements of fantasy, horror, and survival. It features many bizarre incidents while also offering plenty of entertaining moments for the audience. It is a wholesome entertainer that families can sit back and enjoy together.
Beyond entertainment, the film touches upon serious and controversial themes such as color politics, racism, and romance. Even while addressing these issues, we have endeavored to present them to the audience in an engaging and entertaining manner.
Please watch the film in theaters with your friends and family when it releases on October 16th. If you like the movie, please share your thoughts and support it. Small films like this reach a wider audience primarily through viewer reviews, feedback, and word-of-mouth recommendations. I hope to see more Tamil films that break the conventional cinematic mold and explore fresh concepts like this one. Thank you very much! Actress Siddhi Idnani said:
“Greetings to all my friends from the press and media. I am delighted to meet you all today. Before speaking about our film, I imagine there is a question on your minds: why are we releasing our small film alongside a movie starring Rajinikanth sir—one of the most anticipated releases of the year? In reality, however, releasing our film alongside ‘Thalaivar’s’ movie is a matter of pride and honor for us. Even if our film appears as just a tiny speck compared to his, that in itself is a huge achievement for us. Whenever Tamil cinema is discussed with pride, the first person who comes to my mind is Thalaivar Rajinikanth. His simplicity and humility have captivated people not just across Tamil Nadu or the nation, but all over the world. The entire team of ‘Drones’ is eager to watch Thalaivar’s ‘Jailer’ and celebrate his success.
At the same time, this is a festive season, including Navaratri. I can confidently say that ‘Drones’ will be a small, engaging, and entertaining film that families can sit together and enjoy. Our producer, G.M. Morgan sir, has made a significant investment, placing his trust in new artists like us who have only worked on one to four films previously. My only prayer to God this Navaratri is that he not only recovers his investment but also earns a profit. Your support is crucial for small films like ours. While it is common for films starring big stars to succeed, the press and media play a vital role in supporting creators like director Raghav and producers like G.M. Morgan, thereby encouraging them to invest their hard-earned money into new films.” …is here.
I would like to thank everyone who worked with me on this film, including Deepak and Sathish. It was a pleasure working with ‘Cinema-wala’ Sathish. It had long been my wish to work with Anjali; our friendship stands as proof that two actresses can indeed be good friends. Everyone knows that Raghav is a highly talented director; he is also currently writing for a film starring Suriya. Qureshi has done excellent work on Vijay TV and is now acting in several films. Nakul, Sathish, and many others are part of this movie. It is also special that popular social media personalities have joined the cast. RJ Deepak, who is here with us, has over two million followers. This demonstrates that fans appreciate seeing genuine, relatable people.
Finally, thank you to everyone present here. I earnestly request your support for our film, ‘Drones’. Your support would bring us immense joy. Thank you very much.”
Actor Dravid Selvam spoke as follows:
“Greetings to all the friends from the press and media present here. I hope you are all doing well. I feel a bit nervous. Regarding this film—I heard the story just after I had finished working on the movie ‘Dude’. They approached me to play a key role and mentioned that there would be two female leads. I asked, ‘If there are two female leads, then why call me…’.asked, “Why? I am already doing similar things on the Parithabangal show.” They replied, “How long will you keep acting like that? It would be great if you took on roles like this, too.” That is why I agreed to act in this film.
Right from the start, Drones has shaped up to be a film that defies categorization into a single genre. It incorporates various elements, including horror and comedy. It features unique characters that children will enjoy, such as a ‘Mohini’ ghost, a ‘Mohini’ grandmother, and a fairy. It takes courage for a producer to blend political themes with entertainment in a small-budget film. In this regard, I extend my gratitude to the producer, Mr. G.M. Morgan, for coming forward to make this movie. Not all producers are willing to invest in such unconventional stories. However, I believe that small films made in Tamil cinema can garner attention in other languages as well. I hope this film, too, will reach a wide audience. I also express my thanks to the director, Raghav Mirdath.
My co-stars were all wonderful. First, there is Qureshi—a very fun-loving person. Even while walking just ten feet, he would crack jokes and tease us with witty one-liners. Then there is RJ Deepak; at times, I was even apprehensive about what he might do on set. We would often tell him to stay quiet, fearing he might play some prank. Yet, he is a good person. Anjali Nair is an excellent actress; when she performs a crying scene, she moves the audience to tears as well. Sithi Idnani was the most experienced member of our cast. Since he had acted alongside stars like Simbu, Arun Vijay, and Aadhi, we were initially a bit hesitant to even speak to him. However, he treated us like friends from day one—without any airs—and helped us perform with ease. It was a delightful experience working with everyone.
Finally, I must thank Sathish anna (Cinemavala). I believe he is the reason I landed this significant opportunity; he mentioned that he was the one who recommended me for the role. I also want to express my gratitude to Gopi and Sudhakar anna from Parithabangal at this moment; I wouldn’t have reached this stage without Parithabangal. Just as you supported projects like ‘Dude,’ please extend your support to this small film, ‘Drones.’ I believe this film will succeed through word-of-mouth appreciation from the audience. Please watch the movie and share your feedback. If there are any mistakes or shortcomings, consider me one of your own—like a boy from your own family—and offer advice on how I can do better next time. I will accept it wholeheartedly. “A big thank you to everyone present here,” said Dravid Selvam.
Director R. Raghav Mirdath, who gained recognition with the film Bun Butter Jam, has created Drones as his next project. Departing from conventional storylines, the film’s screenplay is built around an intriguing premise: what would happen if bizarre events—typically confined to dreams—were to occur in real life? Crafted in a surrealist fantasy style, the film aims to transport audiences into a new world filled with mystery and magic.
The film features an ensemble cast including Siddhi Idnani, Anjali Nair, Devadarshini, Dravid Selvam, Qureshi, Cinemawala Sathish, Sasi Selvaraj, and RJ Deepak. Distinctive characters—such as a mad scientist, a detective, a fairy, and a witch—along with the mysterious events surrounding them, add depth and excitement to the narrative.
Jayanth Sethu Madhavan handles the cinematography, while Hari S.R. composes the music. Sathish Surya is the editor, and R. Kishore oversees the art direction. Produced by GM Morgan Films, the movie is being released by Five Star Senthil.
Drones is set to hit theaters on October 16.
