To celebrate Varun Teju’s birthday, the makers of the film “Matka” have released a video of the opening bracket from the film to give fans a sneak peek. The video opens with the protagonist playing music on a gramophone. The latter shows characters living in two different time periods. Naveen Chandra plays a gangster and B Ravishankar plays a police officer. The protagonist’s childhood shows him playing kabaddi and then he becomes the head of a gambling mafia. The video ends with him smoking a cigar and saying ‘promise’ to someone on the phone.
Although Varun Tej is not fully featured in this video clip, it is understood that he has completely transformed himself to play a more powerful character. Her dress design resembles the 80s fashion style. Varun dazzles on screen with his charming acting and mannerisms. The single word he speaks, ‘Promise’, has a very powerful impact.
As the story takes place between 1958 and 1982, director Karuna Kumar succeeds in perfectly recreating the atmosphere from the 50s to the 80s. Cinematographer A Kishore Kumar and production designer Ashish Teja Bhulala have brought the aesthetics of yesteryear to the screen. The background score by GV Prakash Kumar is amazing. The technical quality is very good. The introduction video is building the interest for the film.
The story of Matka is based on a true incident that rocked the entire nation. Varun Tej appears in four different get-ups in the film as it spans 24 years.
Nora Fatehi and Meenakshi Chaudhary have been roped in to star opposite Varun Tej. Along with them, Naveen Chandra and Kannada Kishore also play the lead roles.
Karthika Srinivas works as R editor and Suresh as art director. As the film has many action sequences, 4 fight masters work together.
Madka will be released as Pan Indian in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages.
