Films like Server Sundaram(Nagesh), Raman Yethanai Ramanadi(Sivaji Ganesan) , Duet (Prakash Raj) etc have dealt with themes that deliberated on the making of a screen star from scratch!
The trials and tribulations an aspiring actor has to face, the plight and predicament of those aspirants while trying to get a break are aspects which one has to undergo till success knocks on his door!
Young writer and director Elan has come up with a fresh script that showcases the journey of a youth named Kalai (Kavin, powerful and impressive!), a reluctant student of a professional college whose sole ambition is to make it big on the big screen, come what may!
While his dad, Pandian (Lal, speaking Tamil with a Malayalam accent but natural!) is supportive of Kalai’ s cause, his mom, Kamala(Geetha Kailasam) keeps chiding him as she is desirous of her son shining in academics so that he can settle well in life!
Whether Kavin is able to accomplish this ambition is all what the rest of the film is about!
A trimming of about 10/15 minutes would have made the movie shine better, especially the melodramatic portions as well as the school room scenes that presents Kavin as a school boy!
Music and Cinematography are definite plusses.
Preity Mukundhan looks cute but performance wise, just manages to mark her presence felt a bit!
Maran is adequate in a supportive character.
Mumbai scenes are significantly noteworthy!
