Director Veeramuthu has captured the plight of Tamil Nadu through ‘Kalan’ – H. Raja praises

‘Kalan’ is a film that will save the younger generation from drug addiction – H. Raja praises

It is welcome that he has spoken about the impeccable leader Kamaraj – Payilvan Ranganathan praised the film ‘Kalan’

‘Kalan’ is a film produced by Rajeshwari Chandrasekaran under the banner of Rajalekshmi Productions and directed by ‘Kidugu’ fame director Veera Murugan. The film stars Deepa and Appukutty in the lead roles, while Gayathri, Sampath Ram, Cheran Raj, Yasar and others have played important roles.

The special launch event of the film, which will be released in theaters on January 3, was held on December 31 at Prasad Label, Chennai. Along with the journalists, H. Raja, the Tamil Nadu coordinator of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and journalist, actor, and film critic Payilvan Ranganathan participated.

Speaking to the journalists after watching the film, H. Raja said, “Director Veeramurugan has captured the miserable condition of Tamil Nadu today. He had earlier made a film called Kidugu. The cause of the corruption in Tamil Nadu today is drugs, and criminals are created due to that drug, which is why social harm occurs. Veeramurugan has told us this realistically through Kalan.

The thing to note here is that in the end, if the hands of the police are not tied to a moral society, they will become guardian deities, which is not the case. He has said that this should change. Kalam is a good film, a good story. Therefore, I request people to watch this film and support it.

The issue that has been going on in Tamil Nadu for the past ten days is shown in this film. The wise say that what they say will happen, and with such great enlightenment, they have included the incident that is happening today in the film. An incident that happened at Anna University is still fresh in the minds of the people today, and such an incident has been included in this film. I see this film as an attempt to bring together not only Tamil Nadu but all the community leaders to save the future generation from drugs, to save the society from atrocities against women.

At the same time, I am reminded of something that Prime Minister Modi said while hoisting the flag on the red board in 2014. If girls come late, we ask them and we reprimand them. But do we ask boys like that? No. But we should reprimand and raise boys. Only then will crimes against women not happen. Society needs to change, and this will be a film for that. We need to save Tamil society, and ‘Kalan’ will be a film for that.”

Speaking about the film, Payilvan Ranganathan said, “Both Appukutty and Deepa, who are acting in this film, are from my village. Although both of them do not belong to the community shown in the film, they have played the character realistically. The fact that the film talks about the impeccable leader Kamaraj is welcome. At the same time, my request is that revolutionary leader MGR should be included in the film.

There is a bit of violence in the film, which could have been avoided a little. However, it cannot be denied that it cannot be avoided as it is necessary for the story. Similarly, I would like to record here that no one should take the law into their own hands.”

Speaking, Appukutty, the hero of the film, said, “‘Kalan’ is a necessary film for the society. I am happy that journalists are praising the film. I request people to watch such a film and support it.”

Speaking, Director Veera Murugan said, “We have talked about the problems happening in the country today in the film. The film specifically talks about the youth falling prey to drug addiction and the increase in violence against women. It is a joy to see everyone who has seen the film praising it.

There are some comments that there is too much casteism and violence. I am not saying this with the intention of imposing anything. The screenplay is based on real events and current events. I have directed this film with the aim of saving the youth from drug addiction and to highlight the crimes against women. I am sure that people will definitely support such good films,” he said.
