“Pookki” Movie Press Meet!!
Produced by Fatima Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner, presented by Meera Vijay Antony, and starring Ajay Thishan, “Pookki” is a romantic comedy film directed by debutant Ganesh Chandra, created to appeal to young audiences. This film is releasing worldwide in theaters on February 13, 2026, as a Valentine’s Day celebration.

Producer Vijay Antony spoke as follows:
I am nothing without you. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has always supported me. The hero of this event is Ganesh Chandra. I am proud to have first introduced him as a cinematographer. I am even more proud to reintroduce him as a director today. Your hard work is clearly visible on screen. The media and the audience will definitely appreciate it. Just like in Malayalam cinema, writers should also be given importance in Tamil cinema. In that respect, New Bharathi is an important writer. I have complete confidence that he will reach great heights after this film. Ajay – a very honest and hardworking person. First and foremost, a good human being. That’s why he will become a great actor and reach great heights. Dhanusha – a very intelligent and talented actress. Dialogue delivery, dubbing, acting – everything was excellent. This film will bring you many opportunities. My thanks to all the artists, the technical crew, and the production team who supported me in this film. This film is releasing on February 13th. For so long, I was behind the camera, only listening to others say ‘action’. But now, for the first time, through the film ‘Pooki’, I have come in front of the camera and started saying ‘action-cut’.
My heartfelt thanks to Vijay Antony sir for giving me this opportunity. I have definitely lived up to the trust he placed in me. We have completed this film in just six months. In today’s scenario, it is not easy to complete a film quickly and bring it to release in a proper and commercially viable manner. Zee Studios has acquired the film. A huge thank you to producer Vijay Antony sir for making that possible. I cannot help but talk about Vijay Antony sir. The only explanation for his hard work is, “Keep trying. Even if it’s wrong, keep doing it until it’s right,” he would say. That energy of working day and night motivated all of us. The writer of this film, Pudhiya Parithi, the hero Ajay, and the heroine Dhanusha – these three are the greatest gifts this film received. Without them, this film would not have been made this way. This film is not just an ordinary film for me. It is a great experience I have had in my life. Many things I never imagined have happened through this film. When I first read the script, I realized that this film was made with great care and profound writing. The story, which is based on real-life experiences, deeply affected me. My heartfelt thanks to director Ganesh Chandra sir. Working with him was a very encouraging and fulfilling experience. I wish to work on many more films with him. This film is not an ordinary effort. I didn’t even give the story to Ganesh Chandra with the intention of making it into a film. He said, “Give me a script to read.” The film was confirmed in just two days after he read it – it was like magic to me. The biggest strength I got in this film was Ganesh Chandra sir and producer Vijay Antony sir. Both of them completely believed in the story and stood true to it. They firmly insisted that “the script should be like this.” It is rare for a first-time writer to get such an opportunity. Even while I was writing, this film was running in my mind with music and editing. My thanks to Vijay Antony sir for bringing that feeling to the screen exactly as it was in my mind through the music and editing. In this film, music is not just background; it speaks volumes, even replacing dialogue in many scenes. That is the film’s greatest strength. The direction team, costume designer Malavika, the choreographer, and every single technician worked not just as a team, but as a family. Truly, this film didn’t feel like work at all.
