A Surprise for Ravi Mohan Fans – “Dhaam Dhoom” Returns to Theaters!
“Dhaam Dhoom,” the popular film starring actor Ravi Mohan as the lead, is set to be re-released in theaters. Having garnered immense popularity among the youth in the past, the film is now ready to meet fans once again, presented in a digitally remastered quality.
Representing Murugan Film Factory, Kandasamy and Balasubramani have planned a grand-scale re-release for the film. It is noteworthy that, in addition to possessing extensive experience in distributing numerous successful films across the Salem region, they also operate the “Grand Cinemas” multiplex theater in Hosur. By bringing “Dhaam Dhoom” back to the silver screen, they aim to offer fans a nostalgic experience filled with cherished memories.
Released on August 28, 2008, “Dhaam Dhoom” received an overwhelming reception among the youth of that era. Its sequences filmed entirely abroad, thrilling action sequences, and beautiful romantic moments captivated the young generation of the time. Notably, it remains one of those films that the “2K generation” remembers fondly to this day.
Through this film, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut made her debut as a lead actress in Tamil cinema. Currently a leading star in the Hindi film industry, she also plays a significant role in the political sphere. Furthermore, the film features a talented ensemble cast—including Raai Laxmi, Jayaram, Bose Venkat, and Pithamagan Mahadevan—in pivotal roles.
The songs and background score, composed by music director Harris Jayaraj, proved to be a major strength for the film. Many of the tracks that topped the charts back then continue to be enjoyed by fans even today. Directed by the late cinematographer and filmmaker Jeeva, the film Dhaam Dhoom emerged as a quintessential commercial entertainer, replete with all the elements of mainstream cinema. Now, 18 years after its initial release, Dhaam Dhoom has been digitally remastered and is set to return to the silver screen with enhanced 5.1 surround sound quality. The film is scheduled for a re-release on April 10th across the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.
Following this initiative, Kandasamy and Balasubramani—representing Murugan Film Factory—have announced plans to re-release several other successful films in the near future.
