Aadhav Arjuna, who rose through shortcuts, is unfit to speak about Rajinikanth
— P.T. Selvakumar Interview
Film producer and State Deputy Secretary of the DMK Traders’ Wing, P.T. Selvakumar, told reporters that Aadhav Arjuna—who rose to prominence through shortcuts—is unfit to speak about Rajinikanth.
Elaborating on this matter, he stated: “Just as a child who is never disciplined and a drumstick tree that is never pruned will ultimately prove useless, I knew the moment Aadhav Arjuna joined forces with Vijay that neither Vijay nor the TVK (Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam) would amount to anything substantial. I gained a clear understanding of Rajinikanth’s humanity while working alongside K.S. Ravikumar on films such as Padayappa and Muthu.
He produced the film Arunachalam and provided substantial financial assistance to those who had worked with him—including Pandaribai, Hemanath Babu, V.K. Ramasamy, Kalaignanam, Sathya Studios Padmanabhan, and AVM Raja. At the time, this act of generosity was widely discussed and created quite a buzz.
He boldly raised his voice against Karnataka regarding the Cauvery water dispute. He spoke out against Jayalalithaa even while sharing the stage with her. He is the one who roared that, at one point, ‘not even God could save Tamil Nadu.’ He stood in opposition to the ruling party when they refused to allocate space at the Marina for Kalaignar’s memorial. He exerted pressure on the government to organize a felicitation ceremony for ‘Nadigar Thilagam’ Sivaji Ganesan. Above all, he married a woman named Latha, a native of Tamil Nadu, and to this day, their marriage stands as an exemplary model for everyone.
Within the film industry, he gifted apartments to his associates, Vittal, Krishna Rao, and Murali. Furthermore, he allotted one ground of land in Kelambakkam to the workers who had served him. Such is the depth of his character and decency.” He is the man who boldly declared that, during the Sri Lankan crisis, he would travel to the island nation accompanied by his legion of fans.
Aadhav Arjuna—who rose to prominence through shortcuts—possesses absolutely no qualification to claim in the public sphere that Rajinikanth, a figure who has consistently stood up against various issues with immense strength of character, is a man who acts out of fear. “As a member of the film fraternity, I wish to express my strongest condemnation of such remarks,” stated P.T. Selvakumar.
