Part II of the film “Thirukkural”
Being produced in both Tamil and English.

Ramana Communications—the production house behind the films Kamaraj and Welcome Back Gandhi—produced and released the film Thirukkural last year. The film was directed by A.J. Balakrishnan.

Notably, the film Thirukkural garnered acclaim from both the press and the general public, and has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people online.

As a continuation of this success, a second installment of the Thirukkural film is now being produced to highlight additional concepts and themes that were not featured in the first movie.

The film is presented by Dr. G. Viswanathan—Chancellor of VIT and President of the Tamizhiyakkam movement—and produced by Ramana Communications. T.P. Rajendran is also joining this noble endeavor.

Director A.J. Balakrishnan shared the following insights regarding Thirukkural Part II:

“It was only after Rev. G.U. Pope translated the Thirukkural into English that our Kural truly captured the attention of the global community.

Two thousand years ago, Tamils maintained extensive trade relations with Western nations such as Rome and Greece, as well as with East Asian nations like China and Indonesia.

This film will visually depict various prominent figures who lived during the era of Thiruvalluvar, as well as the cultural exchanges, trade networks, and the refined civilization of the Tamils during the Sangam period.

To appeal to an international audience, the film will incorporate the contributions of Hollywood artists alongside cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

The primary objective of this film is to proclaim our illustrious Tamil heritage to the world through the medium of the Thirukkural.”

Director A.J. Balakrishnan stated that filming is scheduled to commence in June, and announcements regarding the cast (actors and actresses) and the technical crew will be released shortly. The film is slated for release next year.
