A consultative meeting regarding wage hikes for film workers was held today (June 30, 2026) at the Accord Hotel in Chennai. Presided over by Mr. G.K.M. Tamilkumaran (President, Tamil Film Producers Council) and attended by Mr. R.K. Selvamani (President, South Indian Film Employees Federation) along with the presidents and secretaries of the 23 affiliated unions, the meeting resulted in key decisions made in the interest of producers. Notably, all parties collectively decided to implement a new initiative in the Tamil film industry—categorizing films into small, medium, and large budgets and structuring wages accordingly—to ensure that neither producers nor workers are adversely affected. There is no doubt that this move will serve as a model for the Indian film industry.
Attendees at the meeting included former President Mr. Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Vice President Mr. S. Kamalakannan, Secretaries Mr. S. Kathiresan and Mr. R. Radhakrishnan, Treasurer Mr. N. Subhash Chandra Bose, Joint Secretary Mrs. Sujatha Vijayakumar, Secretary Mr. D. Siva and Treasurer Mr. Dhananjayan of the Tamil Film Active Producers Association, as well as executive committee members, Director Mr. R.V. Udhayakumar, and Director Perarasu.
