Samuthirakani and Sasikumar reunite for ‘School Bus’ – The friends’ successful journey continues!
At the SIIMA 2026 awards ceremony, actor Sasikumar received an award for the film ‘Tourist Family’, while actor Samuthirakani won the award for Best Supporting Actor (Tamil) for the film ‘Kantha’.
Fans are delighted to see Sasikumar and Samuthirakani—who have shared a long-standing bond in both friendship and their cinematic careers—receive recognition for their respective works at the same awards ceremony.
Samuthirakani, who has carved a unique niche for himself across languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada through his natural and realistic acting, won this award for his outstanding performance in ‘Kantha’.
Samuthirakani’s hallmark is his ability to internalize a character’s emotions and essence, portraying them naturally rather than merely acting out the role. Regardless of the character or language, the distinctiveness of his acting remains consistent.
Samuthirakani has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the SIIMA team and the jury for this recognition. He also extended his thanks to ‘Kantha’ director Selvamani Selvaraj, producers Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri, and Jom Varghese, as well as the entire film crew. Samuthirakani continues his acting journey across multiple languages, playing key roles in various films. These include Arasan (directed by Vetrimaaran, starring Simbu), Irulan (directed by Muthaiah, starring Arun Vijay), Maisa (starring Rashmika Mandanna), Mahakali (directed by Pooja Aparna Kolluru, starring Akshaye Khanna), and NBK 111 (directed by Gopichand Malineni, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna alongside Manchu Manoj and David Reddy).
Additionally, he is playing a pivotal role in Jai Hanuman (directed by Prasanth Varma), which stars Rishab Shetty as the lead. He is also appearing in a significant role in Mahakali, another film within Prasanth Varma’s cinematic universe.
Meanwhile, Samuthirakani is directing and starring in the film School Bus, featuring Sasikumar, Kiccha Sudeep, and Mysskin in key roles. Following announcements previously made in Kannada and Telugu, a grand announcement regarding the Tamil version of School Bus is expected soon.
