‘The Grandmaster’… Eye-Catching First Look Released!
Produced by Velayutham under the banner of V6 Film Pvt Ltd and directed by Vetrichezhiyan, ‘The Grandmaster’ is a film crafted with a distinct social conscience. The film’s first look has been released and is garnering significant attention from fans and the film fraternity.
Vetrichezhiyan, who previously worked as an assistant director under prominent filmmakers like H. Vinoth, Seenu Ramasamy, and Jananathan, has written and directed this film. With his debut feature, he has created a work that powerfully addresses the lives of the marginalized and their struggle to realize their dreams.
The film’s central narrative revolves around a mother—a sanitation worker struggling to make ends meet—who stands by her son’s dream of excelling in chess and becoming a Grandmaster. It depicts her battle to turn her son’s dream into reality while overcoming poverty and various societal obstacles. Deviating from the conventional commercial path, the film offers a compelling look at a different facet of society.
The newly released first look features the mother and son against a backdrop of chessboard squares, each displaying different emotions. While the young boy looks upward with hope, holding a chess piece, the mother appears with an expression reflecting a mix of worry and pain. Elements such as moving chess pieces surrounding them and a scene at the bottom showing the mother riding a bicycle with her son ensure the poster effectively mirrors the story’s themes of struggle and aspiration.
The film features a cast that includes Aparnathi, Lingesh, Suresh Menon, Ashwin, Tamilarasi, Anbu, Mano Madurai, and Vichithiran in key roles. Arjun Ravi and Gnanasekar R.S. have handled the cinematography, while Dinesh Antony has composed the music. Ranjeeth C.K. is handling the editing, while Raghavan Sanjeevi is in charge of the art direction.
Filming took place in locations including Dindigul, Madurai, Tada, and Chennai; with the shoot and post-production work now complete, the project is in its final stages. Announcements regarding the film’s music launch and trailer are expected soon.
