‘The Dark Heaven’ director Balaji begins his next film with a pooja ceremony!
Launch of the film ‘The Last Case’, directed by ‘The Dark Heaven’ director Balaji and starring Sidhu and Dharshika!
‘The Dark Heaven’, a crime thriller directed by Balaji—featuring Bigg Boss fame personalities Sidhu and Dharshika, among others—was a recent success, garnering both critical acclaim and strong box-office returns. Director Balaji is now embarking on his next project, titled ‘The Last Case’, which is once again being produced by Dream 7 Cinemas.
Sidhu and Dharshika return as the lead pair, joined by supporting actors including Jayakumar. The pooja ceremony for the film took place today at the Pillaiyar Temple in Prasad Labs, in the presence of members of the press. Judging by the posters, the film’s narrative appears to revolve around the concept that “every crime leaves behind a trace—one that could rewrite the very theories of criminology.”
Speaking to the media at the event, director Balaji said:
“‘The Dark Heaven’, which succeeded in theaters, has also received a fantastic response following its OTT release on September 18th. It is with this sense of joy that we begin our new film today. This project is also a crime thriller. Sidhu, Dharshika, and Jayakumar—who appeared in our previous film—are part of the cast, alongside several new actors. Furthermore, the technical crew from the previous film, including the cinematographer and the music director, are returning for this project as well.” Although this is also a crime-investigation story set in a mountainous region, this film will be entirely different. The geographical backdrop will set it apart and give it a distinct character.
The storytelling approach here is unique, and the characters are portrayed in a different light. The narrative and the scenes are crafted to bring out deep, profound emotions from every character.
Our previous film, The Dark Heaven—a collaborative effort by our team—was a major commercial success, largely thanks to the support of the media. That is why we are launching this new project in your presence; we hope for your continued support.
While the core team remains the same, this story breaks the mold—it is by no means a repeat of our previous work. We can promise that it will offer a fresh and novel theatrical experience.
Unlike our previous film, which lacked intense emotional sequences, this one features deeply moving moments for the characters. Furthermore, while the former contained elements of fantasy, this film does not—it is, in every sense, a completely different kind of movie.
For now, I can only reveal that the story is rooted in real-life events. Further details about the film will be shared in due course,” he stated.
Speaking at the event, the lead actor, Sidhu, remarked:
“Although I have appeared in television serials and films, it was The Dark Heaven that truly marked the beginning of my successful journey. My brother, director Balaji, laid the foundation for my success with that film and paved the way for my ascent. I see this new opportunity as the next step in that journey.
I truly savored the success of that film; I could feel its impact wherever I went. It became a significant identity for me.” “Before this, wherever I went, people would only talk about my work on television. It was only after the success of this film that they began to identify me by the name of the character I played—’Pari.’ It brought me great joy when people would call out ‘Pari, Pari!’ whenever they saw me. I am hopeful that this new film will also follow in the same path of success,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the lead actress, Dharshika, said:
“It feels like it was just recently that I attended the preview launch for the film ‘The Dark Heaven.’ Yet, that film has already been released and achieved success, and now we have already begun work on the next one—I can hardly believe it! I am confident that this film, too, will turn out well. I am truly happy; the role I play here is quite distinct and offers something different compared to my previous film.”
The event was attended by character actor Jayakumar, producers Gopal and Saran, music director Sakthi Balaji, and the rest of the film’s crew.
