In a plot that explores the root of social problems, ‘Raghu Thatha’ tells the journey of a revolutionary woman with subtle humor and a poignant screenplay. The story unfolds in the picturesque village of Valluvanpet, where Kayalvizhi (played by Keerthy Suresh) works as a respectable bank employee and is popular with the people for her stand against the imposition of Hindi. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she agrees to marry Tamilselvan (Ravindra Vijay), an engineer who shares her progressive views. As a startling secret is revealed, Kayal is forced to rethink her principles, learning the Hindi she has struggled with and taking the exam. So what will Kayal do? Her long-held hopes or an unexpected compromise? What will she go towards? The film sets the stage for a thought-provoking exploration of language politics, gender discrimination and personal beliefs in modern India.
