Thirumavalavan movie trailer and audio launch ceremony!!

‘Ramana Communications’, which produced the biopic of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj under the name ‘Kamaraj’ and the biopic of Gandhi under the name “Welcome Back Gandhi”, has now produced a grand film based on Thirumaval called ‘Thirukural’. The film is directed by A.J. Balakrishnan.

The trailer and audio launch ceremony of the film, which will be released on the 27th of this month, was held in the presence of film celebrities along with the film crew.

Thirukkural director A.J Balakrishnan spoke..

Hello everyone, Kurosawa would say that you can’t make a good film with a bad screenplay. The screenplay for this film was written by Chembur Jayaraj, who also wrote for Kamaraj. He is a Dravidian activist. I will tell you the story of how this film came about very briefly. Someone requested that Thirukkural be made into a film. When we were thinking about how to make 1330 kurals into a film, the artist’s voice painting was an example for us. What can be made into a painting? He put it in a book. What can we display from it? We took all those kurals. The money for this film came in its own way. I don’t have any difficulty in this. Many things in life happen in their own way. We shot the film set and it rained all day, the whole set was raining, and Idumbai Kural was the only song I remembered. We finished the film after that. Then we went to Ilayaraja sir. He liked the film very much. He gave wonderful music. Two people were the main reason for the making of this film, VIP Viswanathan sir came and helped with this, he is a very thrifty person. Madurai D. P.B. Rajendran helped. Thanks to both of them. The woman played by Thanalakshmi Vasukiya is her first film, she wants to come forward in her career. She wants to shine in this field. Kalaichochola has said what I wanted to say: she has acted well. My heartfelt thanks to everyone.

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Nadu leader Mr. Tholl. Thirumavalavan said….

Everyone who spoke to me before me has presented various opinions about Thirukkural and Thiruvalluvar in great depth and detail. The director has already produced and directed two films and released them. One film is called Kamaraj, the other is called Welcome Back Gandhi, he is the one who has made a film about the life of two great men. He has given this film a name from a different angle. Kamaraj, who named it Gandhi, could have named this film Thiruvalluvar. I wondered why he didn’t name it that way. He has named it Thirukkural. I see that the view that ideology should be given importance prevails in him. The ideology he presented is more important than Thiruvalluvar, so I believe that he may have decided to name it Thirukkural. This view is commendable. This thinking is commendable. Rather than promoting an individual, the view that the ideology he spoke about should be promoted, uplifted, and taken to the masses is important. The personalities who lived in our time, served the people and made a huge impact are the great leaders Kamaraj and Mahatma Gandhi. Therefore, it is necessary to present them even today. But Thiruvalluvar was a person who appeared and lived two thousand years ago. What is the truth in this, if it is a truth that we should realize? There is no evidence that the name Thiruvalluvar is the author of Thirukkural, there is no evidence that he wrote it, there is no evidence that this is the name of the person who wrote that book, everything we hear about his birth and life is not a confirmed history like Kamaraja except for the opinions presented by scholars from time to time. There is no confirmed data like Gandhiji that says he was born on this date, lived on this date and died on this date. Now our people are researching what caste Thiruvalluvar could have been, what religion he could have been. Director Sekar beautifully explained that Thiruvalluvar was firm on the principle of secularism. That is the message that needs to be presented. That is the ideology, which is why director A. J. Balakrishnan says that what is Thirukkural is more important than who Thiruvalluvar is, what it says, that is what we need to convey to the people.
Yes, that is why he did not name this film Thiruvalluvar, nor worship a protagonist, but rather approached it with a very high vision that the public should understand the life, ideology, and principles that the book tells. We have data that it was first published in 1812. If so, it did not come to Atchi until about 200 years ago, before that, it was on the leaves, the Thirukkural on the leaves, the Lord Ellis, Ellis Durai, Francis White Ellis, his full name, was the person who brought it to him and gave it to him. Historical data tells us that Pandit’s grandfather Kandappan took the leaves that were in his house in Paran and gave them to the Ellis department, who read them and brought them to print.

Today, there is a big opposition to a speech made by Kamal Haasan. In Karnataka, they are protesting that they will not let his film be shown in theaters. They could not accept the idea that Kannada originated from Tamil. But in 1800-12, Ellis and in 1852, Henry Hysington, all of them British citizens, learned Tamil, studied Tamil, talked to Tamil scholars, compared all the South Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu, and based on that, the idea they put forward confirmed the idea that Tamil is the original language of all these languages. Henry Winston also lived in the same time as Ellis, and it was after him, 40 years after Ellis, in 1856, that Caldwell wrote a glossary of the Dravidian languages. Beyond the message that these languages are related to each other, they also say that among the various languages spoken in India, the most ancient and special are the South Indian languages, including Tamil. At that time, there was Pali, at that time, there was Sanskrit, today there is no one who speaks Pali. Buddhism, the language spoken by Buddha himself, is known as Pali. Now, it is not in the spoken language, Sanskrit is not in the spoken language today. The Tamil language, which has historical data that appeared at that time or before that, is still alive today. It has gained strength worldwide. The Tamil language has absorbed innovation. A language with a unique personality that combines antiquity and innovation. Many languages have emerged, grown, aged and disappeared, but Tamil has remained. Today, computer language has come. That is innovation. Tamil is adapting itself to the computer. It is a classical language because it has attained that level of concentration and refinement.

Of the many works that proclaim the dignity of Tamils, only Thirukkural has been translated into hundreds of languages worldwide. The most translated book in the world after the Bible is Thirukkural. As Brother V. Shekhar said, if this were a religious book, only those belonging to that religion would have praised and would continue to praise it. The Bible belongs to Christians, so if people who speak any language in the world accept Christianity, they translate the Bible into that language. The Quran belongs to Muslims, Muslims live all over the world, and they translate the Quran into the languages they have as their mother tongue. Therefore, there is a need to translate it into all other languages. Muslims who speak a language other than Hebrew and a language other than Arabic, who have accepted Islam, have a historical obligation to translate the Quran, that sacred book, into their mother tongue. For the Quran, the Bible, but regardless of any religion, but people of all languages, have translated a language, if they have translated a book, then that proud book is only Thirukkural. This is a book common to humanity, a global commons. That is how we need to promote Thirukkural. We need a vision to elevate this. We can feel that our director AJ Balakrishnan has that vision. That is why he has named this film Thirukkural. He has titled it. I would like to conclude by thanking my brother director AJ Balakrishnan for giving me this opportunity to know him, saying that this is his specialty. Thank you, sir.
