Perhaps it is the harvest season for female filmmakers!
It was Varsha Bharat through Bad Girl, last week accompanied ably by Anjali Sivaraman and Shanthipriya.
Now seems to be the time of Dhamayanthi supported strongly by Anmol and Gayatrie and of course, Swagatha Krishnan.
A caste crazy Mom (Anmol) inadvertently initiates the suicide of her only daughter (Gayatrie) who fell in love with a boy (Lingesh) belonging to a different caste. Despite her husband (Isaac Verghese) putting in efforts to convince her, the Mom remains adamant and the consequences that follow forms the rest of the narration.
There is also a psychiatrist (Ramesh Tilak), a friend of the family who tries his best to set everything right.
Whether the Mom undergoes a transformation or not is the rest.
The film’s USP is the top angle shots at Puducherry, Velankanni and Rameswaram brilliantly canned by Kathick Subramanian.
The characterization of Swagatha Krishnan is irritating at times!
Dhamayanthi has presented the emotional quotient in a commendable manner.
