Press Meet for the Film ‘Breakfast’!
‘Breakfast’ is a feature film directed by Gandhi Krishna—known for helming the movies ‘Chellamae’ and ‘Anandha Thandavam’—and produced by Girija Varadaraj. The film features a cast that includes Ranav, Rosmin, Sampath Kumar, Kasthuri, Krithik Mohan, and many others. A press meet for this film, which is scheduled for release this month, was recently held. Director Gandhi Krishna stated, “I have directed a film after a long hiatus. I hope you will all enjoy it. This film reflects the lifestyle of the current generation. We have depicted how love existed 2,000 years ago versus how the current generation approaches love today. We have given the film the tagline, ‘Accept the Reality.’ We find ourselves in a situation where we are unable to fight against the modern way of life. We are not offering unsolicited advice to couples; however, we must acknowledge this bitter truth. We have only one life to live, and our culture dictates that we should live it righteously. We have presented this theme in as commercial a manner as possible. Many people ask me why there was such a significant gap in my film career after I had delivered so many good films. I worked on a script titled ‘Karikalan,’ which took two years to complete. Subsequently, for various reasons, that project did not materialize. In this manner, I currently have nearly 13 scripts ready. If I can find the right producers for these stories, there is a strong possibility that I will direct them.
Regarding the story of ‘Breakfast,’ the writer Sujatha was instrumental in helping me gain insight into the world of today’s youth. I have been associated with Director Shankar ever since the film ‘Indian.’ Whenever he encountered an issue with a script he was writing, he would reach out to me. I learned a great deal from him. He taught me that beyond simply reading extensively and watching films, a true creator must observe and note what is unique or different whenever they visit a new place. He emphasized that such a person is the mark of a genuine creator. Consequently, I was able to closely observe and take notes on how the youth of today speak and conduct themselves. We are ready to direct films featuring new lead actors; however, this can only happen if producers are willing to take that step. Producers face the inherent challenge of having to market and generate revenue using these newcomers. Since this film features newcomers in the lead roles, audiences will find it easy to connect with the story on a personal level. We have decided to release the film in April. At the time I received my National Award, many…” “Despite his busy schedule and prior commitments, G.V. Prakash composed all the songs for this film beautifully. Mr. Vairamuthu, too, was very fond of the story. Most of the filming took place in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Puducherry, while the songs were filmed in locations such as Manali, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia.”
Speaking on the occasion, the producer stated: “This marks my debut as a film producer. I am delighted to have had the privilege of working with a film crew that displayed such remarkable cooperation right from my very first project. The support extended to this film by the press and the audience will serve as a tremendous source of encouragement for us. I hope that, much like myself, many other new producers will be inspired to enter the film industry.”
The film’s protagonist, Ranav, remarked: “My director placed far more faith in me and gave me my debut opportunity than I ever placed in myself as a lead actor. We have worked on this project simultaneously in three languages—Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The delay in the film’s release was due to the ongoing editing and CG work required for these multiple versions. However, the film is now fully ready for release. The director has successfully captured the realities of the current generation on screen. There is a strong possibility that, after watching this film, many people who have gone through a breakup might find a way to reunite. Even divorced couples could potentially reconcile. The story in this film is that powerful. Given that opportunities for new lead actors to debut in Tamil cinema are scarce, I consider it a true blessing to have received this opportunity in this film.”
Actress Rosmin shared: “I actually made my acting debut in Malayalam cinema before signing on for the film Breakfast. Initially, I harbored some doubts about whether I would be able to do justice to this particular story. However, thanks to the support I received from everyone involved, I was able to fully understand the character and deliver my performance. My character’s name is Janvi. There were many instances where I felt as though Janvi’s thoughts and emotions mirrored my own. I truly believe that this film will prove to be a significant turning point in both my personal life and my professional career.” Actor Krithik Mohan said, “This is my third film. Prior to this, I acted in the movie ‘Anjamai.’ Acting itself was not difficult for me; what I found challenging was performing romantic scenes.”
