Press Meet for the Film ‘Double Occupancy’!

Produced jointly by Avni Movies and Benz Media, the film Double Occupancy is set to hit theaters soon. Crafted as a romantic fantasy with a novel storyline, the movie is expected to transcend the conventional boundaries of Tamil cinema and offer audiences a fresh cinematic experience. Santhosh, who rose to fame through the film Ponniyin Selvan, plays the lead role in this production. Starring opposite him is Samyuktha Viswanathan, known for the popular song “Katchi Sera.” Additionally, Reshma Venkatesh and Vinoth Kishan play pivotal roles. They are joined by a supporting cast that includes VTV Ganesh, Bhagavathi Perumal (Bugs), and several other notable actors. Director Ashwin Kandasamy makes his directorial debut with this film. The music has been composed by Sam C.S., while the cinematography has been handled by Santhakumar Chakravarthy. In this context, a grand audio and teaser launch ceremony for the film was held in Chennai, attended by the entire cast and crew.

Speaking at the event, Creative Producer Anandita Sundar stated: “I served as the Creative Producer for this film. The entire film crew feels like friends and family to me. We have poured immense hard work into making this movie. Mr. A.C. Shanmugam provided us with tremendous support; without him, none of us would have come together for this project. At this moment, I would like to express my gratitude to my parents. Furthermore, I extend my thanks to the director and the entire technical crew who worked on this film. It is often said that some things just fall into place naturally; similarly, the cast we secured for this film fit perfectly. Without them, the movie would not have turned out as brilliantly as it has. We also wish to express our sincere gratitude to all the members of the press. This film represents the collective dream of everyone involved.” I strongly urge everyone to watch this film in theaters and show your support.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagavathi Perumal said: “Greetings, everyone. This marks my second film with Avni Movies. When I first heard this story, I was truly surprised. I felt that a new era of storytelling—one geared towards the next generation—had truly begun. We have poured a tremendous amount of hard work into making this film. This is also my first time acting to the musical score of Sam C.S. Thank you.”

Speaking next, Reshma Venkatesh said: “Greetings to one and all. My heartfelt thanks go to Khushbu Ma’am. Director Ashwin Saravanan is an exceptionally talented filmmaker; thank you for placing your trust in me. This journey has spanned a year and a half. It was an absolute joy to act alongside this entire cast. Watching Santhosh perform, it certainly didn’t seem like this was his debut film. Samyuktha delivered a brilliant performance in the role of Priya. I feel incredibly proud to have acted alongside Vinoth Kishan. I am a huge admirer of Sam C.S.’s music, and it was a pleasure working with him. I would also like to extend my gratitude to our cinematographer, costume designer, and editor. I played the character ‘Rajini,’ and I hope that all of you will enjoy watching that role. Finally, I would like to thank my family and friends for their support. I look forward to your continued support in the future. Thank you.”

Speaking last, Samyuktha Viswanathan said: “Greetings, everyone. This film holds immense significance for me. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Khushbu Ma’am. Avni Movies has always prioritized and championed unique and unconventional stories. From the very moment Director Ashwin first narrated the story to me, I was completely immersed in the world of the film. I absolutely fell in love with this character. It was a delight to act alongside Santhosh. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Reshma without a smile on her face; we shared many conversations and laughs on the sets during the shoot. I would like to thank everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this film a reality. I truly hope that you will all extend your support to us. Thank you.” Speaking on the occasion, actor Santhosh began by saying, “Greetings to everyone. I have known Anandita Sundar since our school days; she is my best friend. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity given to me in this film. My thanks go to Khushbu Ma’am; she has been a massive pillar of support for me. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Director Ashwin. He is like an elder brother to me. The stories he conceives are always exceptional. He has the ability to approach and pitch a story to any leading hero in the industry; yet, I thank him for choosing me. I also extend my thanks to Cinematographer Santhakumar; his hard work and dedication have been immense. We have all worked together as a cohesive team. The VFX team is doing a fantastic job; despite the limited time available to them, they have executed their work brilliantly. Shruti has done a wonderful job of presenting me in a very stylish and appealing manner. We are typically accustomed to witnessing high-octane action narratives accompanied by Sam C.S.’s music; however, this film will stand out as a unique and distinct project within his musical repertoire. I truly enjoy—and find it fascinating—to rehearse scenes with Bugs Sir before performing them.

I have known Vinoth for many years. [This is] such a unique…”
You have never seen him in a role quite like this before; he has truly rocked this character. We faced considerable difficulty in finding the right person to portray the character of Reshma, but she has delivered a truly exceptional performance. Samyuktha served as a true backbone for me throughout this film; she set aside her own performance to help me deliver my best. I owe her a huge debt of gratitude for her kindness and support. I would also like to express my immense gratitude to Brinda Master; she is truly like a deity to me. She identified a style that suited me perfectly and choreographed the sequences accordingly. I extend my thanks to Sundar Sir as well—thank you for giving the green light to this story. I urge you all to watch this film in theaters and show your support. Moving forward, I promise to choose roles that are specifically designed to entertain all of you. Finally, I would like to thank my parents.

Speaking on the occasion, Cinematographer Santhakumar said: “It was Dinesh Kumar who first introduced me to this project. I would like to thank Khushbu Ma’am and Sundar Sir. During the making of this film, my parents fell ill and passed away. At that difficult time, Khushbu Ma’am told me, ‘We will resume shooting only when you have fully recovered and are ready to return.’ I will remain eternally grateful to her for that gesture. I thank Director Ashwin, as well as every single actor who performed in this film; no matter what instructions I gave them, they executed them tirelessly and without complaint. Finally, I would like to thank all my assistants.”

Speaking next, Director Ashwin Saravanan said: “Greetings, everyone. I have been working in the film industry for nine years, but this marks the very first time I am speaking on a public stage. I would like to thank Khushbu Ma’am for giving me the opportunity to stand on this platform. I also owe a debt of gratitude to Sundar Sir, who guided me on stage etiquette—teaching me what to do and what to avoid while addressing an audience. He has shared many personal anecdotes from his own life with me. The technical crew has poured an immense amount of hard work into this film, and I extend my sincere thanks to each and every one of them. Finally, Sam C.S. has delivered a truly outstanding background score for this movie.” I have really put the VFX team through the wringer; the film features a significant number of VFX sequences. It is a tremendous honor to have worked with Brinda Master on my very first film. No one on the team ever made me feel like this was my debut project. Initially, we planned to make this as a short film; it only evolved into a feature film later on. It was Santosh who first suggested that we expand it into a full-length movie. He was the one who instilled complete confidence in me. We faced considerable difficulty in casting the female lead for this film. Reshma gave her absolute all to this project—delivering everything I asked for, and even things I hadn’t explicitly requested. I sincerely hope that after working on this film, Vinoth Kishan decides to steer clear of doing action movies in the future! The set design and construction work for the film were truly exceptional. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to Mr. A.C. Shanmugam. This film represents the realization of our collective dream, and we seek the support of all members of the press fraternity.

Speaking on the occasion, Khushbu stated: “This is a truly remarkable team. It is a delightful Rom-Com. Occasionally, a team comes together in such a perfect alignment; it feels like a connection ordained by God—for He is the one who orchestrates everything. Santosh and Ananditha have been friends since their school days. However, during their school years, they couldn’t stand each other! Yet now, they spend their entire days—from morning till evening—chatting away. I do not have a biological son, but through this project, I have gained a wonderful son in Santosh. It was Santosh and Ananditha who originally brought this story to us. That is when Ashwin Kandasamy came on board. I fell in love with the story the very first time he narrated it to me. This film has it all—comedy, emotion, and everything in between. I haven’t heard a story quite like this in a long time. It gives me immense pride to introduce Santosh through Avni Productions. I feel the same depth of pride and joy that any mother would feel for her own child. He possesses that passion, that intense drive, and every quality needed to succeed. Ashwin, too, exudes tremendous confidence; he has a clear vision for this film—treating it as his own project—and knows exactly how it needs to be executed.” Sundar stated that a director must be given creative freedom, as they inherently know exactly what needs to be done. Samyuktha has delivered an excellent performance in the role of Priya.

We auditioned numerous candidates for the role played by Rajini. Our thanks go to Reshma. I did not even visit the film’s shooting locations. We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. C.V. Shanmugam. My daughter makes her debut in this film as a Creative Producer. She had previously worked on Ponniyin Selvan 2 as well, though her name was inadvertently omitted from the credits. Seeing her name listed in this film brings me a profound sense of fulfillment. She has always harbored an aspiration to become a producer. Anandhita strives to work with the same dedication as her father; she constantly seeks out the most effective way to execute a task correctly. It fills me with immense pride to see her standing on this stage today. This film has truly opened my eyes to the valuable lessons we can learn from the current generation. Everyone should make it a point to watch Double Occupancy in theaters; I guarantee that you will leave the cinema hall with tears in your eyes.
