Legendary director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is presenting his ambitious project, ‘Singeetham’, to the audience. The film is produced by Nag Ashwin, Vyjayanthi Movies, and Swapna Cinema. Ayan, Ahalya Pamru, and Shalini Kondepudi play key roles in the movie. “Rockstar” Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music. The previously released teaser and songs for ‘Singeetham’ have received a great reception.
The film ‘Singeetham’ is set to release in theaters worldwide on June 11. To mark the occasion, the film crew held a pre-release event in Chennai. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan attended as the special guest. The event was a grand affair.
Speaking at the event, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan said, “Greetings to everyone. From Mayabazar to the current Singeetham, there has been no change in Singeetham Srinivasa Rao; cinema lives within him. This is a rare phenomenon. I began working with him when I was just 20 years old. I have worked on his films as both a producer and an assistant director. My goal was simply to work with him.” Many years ago, he narrated two stories to me. One of them was released as the film Pushpaka Vimana. Now, the second story is set to be released as the film Singeetham. I heard that story when I was twenty; now I am seventy, and I am about to watch the film. Some ideas and stories are timeless, and Singeetham Sir’s stories are just that—timeless. Many people mispronounce his name as ‘Sangeetham’ (music), but this film will resolve that confusion; from now on, everyone will call him ‘Singeetham’. Music is inherent in his very name. We filmed Kalki in a sweltering studio, whereas Pushpaka Vimana was shot in an air-conditioned room at a five-star hotel; we used to proudly say that we filmed the entire movie in air-conditioned comfort. Similarly, we thoroughly enjoyed working with him on the film Mumbai Express. Even today, Singeetham Sir remains ahead of Gen Z. It is a great joy to celebrate him today. I still wish to work as his assistant director. Cinema is a creative endeavor that demands immense passion, and they are bringing this film to the audience with that very passion. When a film is made with passion, it often achieves unexpected success; Pushpaka Vimana is a prime example of this. We should learn that kind of passion from Singeetham Sir. No one can predict beforehand whether a film will succeed or not, but we only realize our own happiness regarding it after the film is completed. Films like Pushpaka Vimana, Mumbai Express, and Apoorva Sagodharargal were all created with a wonderful spirit. “The film Singi Geetham evokes that kind of feeling. I feel as though I produced this film myself; I feel like a co-producer. Nag (Nag Ashwin) knows this. I have always held Singeetham Sir in high regard. I feel it would have been even better had Raaj Kamal Films produced this movie. I am delighted to be here at this event. Had you mentioned this three months ago, I would have been part of the film crew myself. I missed that opportunity. However, I have complete faith in Singeetham Sir. I am certain that another opportunity to work with him will surely come my way. Thank you all.”
Speaking on the occasion, Director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao said, “Greetings to everyone. This film is a dream I have nurtured for 40 years. The story was born from the thought that if words themselves could be songs, I would have narrated this tale to many people. By divine grace, I consider myself blessed to finally have the opportunity to make this film under the production of Nag Ashwin and Vyjayanthi Movies. I directed the film from start to finish, but Vyjayanthi Movies and Nag Ashwin took on all production-related responsibilities with great affection. Nag Ashwin is a world-renowned director. It gave me immense joy that he stepped forward to produce this film. He cherished me even more than the film itself. He produced this movie with great respect and admiration. The credit for this film belongs to Nag Ashwin. Devi Sri Prasad understood the story wonderfully.” I believe that no one other than him could have provided such wonderful music for this film. Nag Ashwin treated me with great respect; he treated me like a father. I offer my heartfelt thanks for the love, affection, and support he showed. My special thanks go to Ashwini Dutt, Nag Ashwin, Devi Sri Prasad, and my dear friend Kamal Haasan. I am delighted that Kamal Haasan has attended this event; I share a very close bond with him, and I am deeply grateful for his presence.
Speaking on the occasion, Devi Sri Prasad said: “Greetings to everyone. My thanks to Kamal Haasan, Singeetham, and all those present here. It was a great joy to have Kamal Haasan share his life experiences with us today; it was a milestone experience. His words about passion were truly inspiring. Ashwini Dutt has produced wonderful films. It is difficult to describe him in a single word, but the film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is enough to speak volumes about him. Similarly, the film Pushpaka Vimana is sufficient to describe Singeetham. These three share a common trait: they always prioritize music above all else. I consider it a blessing to compose music for Singeetham’s film. This project has an excellent writing team, and we thoroughly enjoyed discussing the story with him. No one else has undertaken the kind of experiments Singeetham has. He speaks with the innocence of a young child—that is his greatest quality. I had always wanted to create a film like this, and Singeetham has made that dream a reality. Since childhood, I have had a habit of turning newspaper articles into music, and that habit proved very useful for this film.” Opportunities like this come only once in a lifetime. Making every word in the film resonate like a song seemed like a huge challenge; yet, that very word has now transformed into a song. That is the source of our excitement. I thank Nagi Sir for his immense support regarding all the unconventional ideas I proposed. I also extend my gratitude to every technician who worked on this film. The entire cast has performed wonderfully; notably, every actor in the film has lent their own voice to the songs. Our entire team worked incredibly hard on this project, and I offer special thanks to all of them. This film will certainly offer the audience a fresh and unique experience.

A special thanks to Singeetham Sir for giving us such a wonderful gift. I will take pride in calling myself Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s hero for the rest of my life. Kamal Haasan Sir is a legend and a source of inspiration for us. I feel truly blessed that Devi Sri Prasad Sir has composed the music for our film; he has created a completely fresh musical style for it.
