Mother Arts International’s Next Venture – ‘Aanda’

Chennai:

Mother Arts International, a production house known for delivering quality cinema in Tamil, garnered acclaim with its debut film Vannathuppoochi, a movie made for children. The film received the Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Film Promoting Family Values. Additionally, the child artist Lakshmi, who starred in the film, won the State Award for Best Child Artist that year, bringing the total tally of State Awards for Vannathuppoochi to two.

Following this, the film Kurangu Pedal was produced, based on the short story ‘Cycle’ by writer-director Rasi Alagappan.

Now, Mother Arts International is working on its next project, the film Aanda. Rasi Alagappan has taken on the responsibilities of story, screenplay, dialogue, direction, and production for this film.

Aanda is shaping up to be a “lifetime story” that begins from the perspective of Gen Z and vividly brings to life the social milieu of the 1980s. The narrative centers on the complete life journey of a character named Dakshinamurthy.

The film captures—with deep emotion—the life of a man who dreamed big while remaining rooted to the earth, chronicling the challenges he faced, his relationships, social responsibility, humanity, and his principles of living. The story emphasizes the message that while times may change, human values must remain constant.

Newcomers will play all the key roles in this film, and the casting process is currently underway. Discussions with the technical crew have also reached the final stages. With filming set to begin soon, the shoot is planned across various locations in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and abroad.

There is an expectation within film circles that Aanda—a work that deeply captures life, human relationships, social responsibility, and the changing times—will emerge as a significant film in Tamil cinema.
