~A charming moment later creates a perverse environment. Saaree is a mind-blowing thriller about lust, control and emotions~

A holiday with friends that starts out as a casual one. A woman in a saree. After a random look, the story takes a turn for the worse. Inspired by real-life events, Saaree is a psychological thriller that asks the viewer a deeply troubling question: How well do you know the people you’re chatting with online? What starts as an online attraction, relentlessly stalks, and changes your mind based on emotions, ultimately ends in a serious, uncontrollable problem. Starring Aaradhya Devi in the lead role, Sathya Yadhu plays Kittu, a photographer who has a crush on a woman. Seeing the heroine in a saree completely entangles him in a spiral of lust. Compliments become controlling, rejections trigger rage, and his lust begins to terrorize everything around her.

Written and presented by Ram Gopal Varma, this saree directed by Giri Krishna Kamal is more than just a film – it is a dangerous look at lust, infatuation and its terrifying consequences in the digital age. Streaming exclusively on Lionsgate Play from June 27, this gripping psychological thriller takes us into a terrifying chapter of unbridled desire. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.
Talking about the film Saari, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma said, “Saari is not just a fictional story – it deeply exposes the terrifying reality of the dangers of stalking without consent on digital platforms that are becoming increasingly common today. Today, relationships are formed online faster than in real life; many people seek such relationships without really knowing who is on the other side. With the film Saari, I wanted to go beyond the superficial and show how a seemingly harmless act – like a conversation with someone on social media, or a glance – can trap us in a vicious cycle of heartbreak. What starts out as love quickly turns into control, and control disguised as love is scarier than hate. The experience of making this film was very terrifying because it forced me to face some uncomfortable truths.”
He continued, “In the film, the saree is more than just a garment; it is also a symbol of how desire and an image are imposed on women, no matter what they wear. Even something as traditional as a saree can be perverted by some. The story of Saari is about what happens when someone decides to say ‘no’ to ‘yes’. It is about unbridled desire in the age of social media, where imaginations merge with reality and boundaries disappear. I wanted to portray that impact – I have captured the transformation of desire into unbridled lust in a very realistic and realistic way. At the heart of this story is human emotion, our emotional fragility; and how flattery can have a very dark side,” he said.

Official Synopsis: During a normal vacation, a photographer develops an unbridled lust for a woman he doesn’t know wearing a red saree, and the vacation takes a bitter turn.
