Actor Madhavan has come a long way since the days of his Alapayudhey!
He carved a niche for himself playing the title role in Rocketry : The Nambi Effect (2002) .
It is now for a second time that he has cast himself in a biopic.
Last time, the character was based on a live person while this time he has depicted a genius belonging from an earlier era!
The film directed by Krishnakumar Ramkumar who is also an actor ( he has appeared in a cameo here too) stays close to the real happenings in the life of GDN who was the most underrated individual of his times, troubled both by the Britishers as well as the Indian Government officials. Madhavan appears tailor made for the character while the others like Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Priya Mani, Aditi Balan, Dushra Vijayan etc have done their parts with understanding!
Of course, the makers have added elements that would cater to the expectations of the audience but within reasonable limits.
Govind Vasantha music and the camera work of Aravind are major contributory factors.
The film definitely deserves rewards at the National level.
