‘Vettuvam’ to hit theaters worldwide for Pongal 2027.
The first film to officially announce a Pongal release—a grand, apocalyptic action spectacle from Pa. Ranjith!
Directed by Pa. Ranjith and jointly produced by Neelam Productions and Learn and Teach Production, the film ‘Vettuvam’ has been officially announced for a worldwide theatrical release during the Pongal 2027 festival.
While there had been reports suggesting that films like ‘Dharman’ and ‘Seyon’ might also be released during the Pongal season, no official release dates have been confirmed for them yet. In this context, ‘Vettuvam’ has become the first to officially lock in a Pongal 2027 release, entering the race for the festive theatrical slot.
The recently released ‘World of Vettuvam’ video has garnered a strong response from fans and the film fraternity alike, further heightening anticipation for the movie. The video was released in five languages—Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada—with voice-overs provided by Pankaj Tripathi (Hindi), Rana Daggubati (Telugu), Soubin Shahir (Malayalam), Kiccha Sudeep (Kannada), and director Pa. Ranjith (Tamil).
Set against an apocalyptic backdrop, the film’s narrative explores power struggles and conflicts between various factions, punctuated by unexpected twists. The action sequences are choreographed based on traditional martial arts, including ‘Adimurai’ and ‘Mallakhamb’; the cast underwent rigorous training in these disciplines for the film. Arya, Dinesh, Shabeer, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Kalaiyarasan feature in key roles.
The film’s technical crew includes art director S.S. Moorthy, cinematographer Rupesh Shaji, editor Selva R.K., music composer G.V. Prakash Kumar, and stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan.
