Under the guidance of actor and producer Mr. Sivakarthikeyan—who holds a deep passion for the antiquity, arts, and literary culture of the Tamil language—the ‘Arts, Literature, and Culture Wing’ of the South Chennai East District Welfare Movement organized a special study visit to the historic ‘Tamil Thatha’ U. Ve. Swaminatha Iyer (U. Ve. Sa.) Library in Besant Nagar, Chennai. This initiative was undertaken with the noble objective of enabling the current generation, as well as members of the Welfare Movement, to gain a profound understanding and appreciation of the grandeur of the classical Tamil language and its ancient history. During the visit, the library administrators provided a detailed explanation to the representatives of the Welfare Movement’s Arts, Literature, and Culture Wing regarding how the rare books, ancient palm-leaf manuscripts, and personal belongings of ‘Tamil Thatha’ U. Ve. Sa.—who revived the Tamil language by painstakingly searching for and compiling Sangam literary works and rare manuscripts—are being preserved.
